HSBC just lost a customer (rant!)

HSBC really annoyed me. 1st of all, they flagged my online account has dormant and call centre insisted I went into the town branch on a scorchio Saturday afternoon.
What a daft system they have in branch! You make your request to a 'greeter' then are made to wait watching staff with their noses at computer screen.
After 30 mins of my whistling "Busy Doing Nothing", I was seen.
By that time I just asked for the account to be closed and transfered in excess of £10k funds to Nationwide.:D

In all fairness, they do have a large TV screen to watch, even if it only advises you to keep all your money in one specific bank...
and a free coffee machine that only staff are allowed to use (health and safety - you might burn yourself and sue them!), but are too busy to serve you. Then we you are seen, you find out its broken!
and the "comfortable" chairs, which seemed about 10 years old.
Yes, I got fedup with them and closed my account too!
Used to be very friendly with multiple kiosks open all ready to serve. Now the local branch has exactly one, and no one is there most of the time - you have to ask!0 -
How long is it for HSBC to consider an account dormant ? What was the interest rate ?

2 years. Interest rate was low, TBH I'd opened the account to spread funds when then savings guarantee was £50K0

So, surely (I know I must not call you Shirley) they have done you a favour and deserve your praise?

was the account funded at all ? on a weekly monthly basis ?
or?
you just let it sat for 2 years and not do anything?
2 years sounds to soon to be 'dormant' HSBC.....• HSBC (Main A/C)
• Halifax Back up A/C
• Lloyds (Spending) A/C
• RBS Back up A/C
• Barclays Old A/C

Considering it had money in definitely soon! I'd understand if it was empty or had never been used that they'd want to close it but did they really think someone had just forgotten about £10k??Sealed Pot Challenge #239

HSBCs rules are that you have to put in at least £500 a month in the account or risk having the account closed down. Will you be paying at least £500 per month into this account?
(If you don't make the £500 monthly payment required to maintain your account, we will either change it to a Current Account or give you notice that we will be closing your account. If you are under the age of 24, the qualification criteria will not apply.)
Personally I bank with HSBC and Lloyds and never have a problem with either. Have my savings with Halifax and my only annoyance with them is that the Summary Page doesn't show CC balance, I have to actually go into the account to see it (I assume the same would be for Lloyds if I had a CC with them).0 -
That £500 per month thing is the biggest lie ever.
i have a HSBC account and i've never paid in £500 a month .... they did send me a letter asking why i haven't but i simply ignored it, and yet my account is still active and money is going in on a daily basis,
it just shows ya... the £500 thing is pointless and the biggest lie ever.• HSBC (Main A/C)

HSBC have different current accounts. Not all of them do have the £500/month requirement. But this does not make it "pointless" or "the biggest lie ever" that some accounts do have that requirement.0 -
There normal current has that... and it's a free account but yet they have this requirement.?
lol... it's flawed I'll tell you that.• HSBC (Main A/C)
