You misunderstood slightly. I have been to Lidl but my first impression was of things like loo rolls, drinks cans/bottles, cans of baked beans sold in multipacks. Did not see a bakery. Seemed more suited to someone buying in bulk for a large family but not for someone buying for 1-2 people.

Go back to Lidl, things are displayed in their original pallett packaging, as it comes from the warehouse, you just take out whatever you need. The meat is all in chiller cabinets and comes in normal sized portions, ie, 2 or 4 chicken breasts etc. Their veg is much better than most of the other big supermarkets, and much cheaper too. So far, the only thing i've been disappointed with is their minced beef, it's too finely minced for me.

Had similar problems with price signs at our local Sainsburys many times, the last time I e-mailed their customer services expecting to get no response, but they replied and added 1000 points to my nectar card.

I stopped shopping at Tesco a few months ago, mainly because joint problems were making it incredibly difficult for me to manoeuvre a trolley around and I had nobody else to help me. I started using Ocado instead.

Have to say I wouldn't change now. Yes, some items are more expensive but I find their value range much better than some premium Tesco products. The biggest difference I've noticed is with their fresh produce with fruit and veg, meat and cheese etc being much nicer than the Tesco equivalent. Even the OH has commented and believe me it's unusual!!

It works well for me, and I actually spend a lot less. My shop has gone from £80 ish a week to £60 a week mostly because I'm not wandering the aisles being tempted by offers which really aren't that good on balance. I buy what I need now which I suppose makes me a Supermarkets worse kind of customer :)

You sure the 2 items had the same coloured stickers on them, the fish cakes are part of 2 offers; a 2 for £5 and a 3 for £6 and the sticker should say this.

Both clearly said 2 for £5. I only saw 2 for £5 and 3 for £10 options. Apparently I had to take both from the meat section, possibly pork only.

As long as the 2 for £5 sticker is the same colour, sorry to ask but on the fishcakes packaging was there just 1 label saying 2 for £5 and not 1 saying 2 for £5 or 3 £6. Only thing i can think of is that the 2 items were from 2 different offers.

You can mix and match the items as long as they are exactly of the same offer, its not just my store but others ive been to. I know mix and match offers in tesco say mix and match yet they aren't at the till but Js dont operate like that.

    Anyway you got a refund.

That's why you have to check the shelf edge tickets which usually list which things are in that deal - where it would say "2 for £5 on Meat and Poultry" (e.g.)

Compare with the drinks section where you get things like "3 for £5 - Mix and Match with any other 3 for £5 beer or cider"

It's not always obvious. It would be easier if they colour coded the labels so you knew all the, say, pink ones were in the same deal but I bet it wouldn't be long before someone used the wrong roll of labels.
I need to think of something new here...
