Sainsbury's mix and match 2 for £5 offers

You misunderstood slightly. I have been to Lidl but my first impression was of things like loo rolls, drinks cans/bottles, cans of baked beans sold in multipacks. Did not see a bakery. Seemed more suited to someone buying in bulk for a large family but not for someone buying for 1-2 people.
We've used lidl for years for 2 people and i bet people use it for 1 as well.
Whats withthe toilet rolls, they sell packs of 9's and 4's i think which is wat you get in other supermarkets0 -
You really have to check tbh. Sainsburys can be cheaper than Lidl on offers, and offers more selection on certain products.
The basics range can also be cheaper than branded Lidl products. It depends what you're after though.
(Also reduced sainsburys food is the best!!)0 -
I was under the impression that you could mix and match the items as long as they were of the same offer eg 2 for £5.
well according to mysupermarket the TTD fishcakes are part of the 3 for £6(previously were part of the 2 for £5)
What were the pork steaks ? breaded or just plain pork steaks ? as the only pork steaks i can see are part of the 3 for £5 deal(checked mysupermarket).
Could be different deals on at Sainsburys Locals though.
Only thing i can tink of is that the 2 items had the old offer stickers on.
You dont have to buy the same items that are part of the same offer.
The offers at your one may be different then. Mine were plain pork steaks, no breadcrumbs. Both definitely said Mix and match 2 for £5. I was under the same impression but was told otherwise when I queried it.0 -
Yesterday I picked up a packet of Anya potateos labelled Mix&Match 2 for £2 and looked to see what else was in that deal... nothing. So not exactly a Mix is it?
You do have to look carefully when they are running 2 or 3 promotions together and see which are in which. Check the labels on the shelf edge too because not all flavours/varieties of the same product are included and that's a bit sneaky IMHO.
Offers do vary from branch to branch. Sometimes I get lucky and an offer finishes in my local then is on at the one near work the week after so I stockup.I need to think of something new here...0 -

Its staggering to me how much more Sainsburys is overall.
Cheap food is destroying our farming community. Why should food be dirt cheap? Just means it's poor quality and/or priced so low that it's grown or produced at a loss half the time. Great."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -

I think some people must be having problems comparing like with like.
I've seen posts in the last two days saying that 'Tesco is much more expensive than Sainsburys' and the exact opposite.
And yet the main supermarkets tend to go to considerable lengths to make sure they are pretty much competitive with each other. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -

You sure the 2 items had the same coloured stickers on them, the fish cakes are part of 2 offers; a 2 for £5 and a 3 for £6 and the sticker should say this.0 -

Exactly. Cheap, but at what cost?
It's the consumer led race to the bottom. People are so focused on their own greed and need for cheapness that they do not consider the bigger picture, or look beyond the "Tesco yellow label", which are often no big a deal, and in some cases more expensive than the regular price.
I stopped shopping at Asda and Tesco after I realised they were taking me, and every other customer for absolute idiots with the fluctuating Price Drop and Rollback nonsense. Sainsburys and Morrisons can be guilty of this practice too, but nowhere to the same extent as the other two. Their prices are much more consistant, and the gondola end offers do tend to be genuine offers, rather than previously inflated prices dropped back to a regular cost.
Most of my shopping is done at local independent retailers with the basic consumables bought at Aldi. I'll leave Tesco and Asda to make their money from the masses of gullible/naive/"stupid" people out there!<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0
