Any idea if these are moulded or milled? I imagine the latter process would make them particularly robust.
They look pressed to me which wont be as strong as a milled or cast housing, but for most users, how robust do they really need to be?
(There's a downside to being built like a brick !!!!-house in the washing machine scenario too - the smaller and lighter they are, the less they will be shocked when being thrown around and against the drum). There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.

Silly question, how do I know if my nc10 has a factory restore partition?
Non-techie answer - My NC10 came with a factory restore partition so there is a reasonable chance that it is standard on all NC10s.
But if you boot up and go through the f4 drill, you'll find out - you are not committed to doing anything, you can just cancel and come out of it.
EDIT - if you type 'samsung recovery solution' (without the speech marks) into the search programs and files bar (get it by clicking on windows logo, bottom left) it brings up a window, click the 'restore' option and it will take you through the process. You can do a basic restore or a full restore (from memory I think I did the basic restore, but I am not 100% sure about that).I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -

I kind of assumed deleting all of the stuff that doesn't need to be there wold help it a little, am I barking up wrong tree with that?
Yes,
post a hijackthis log and commit charge, deleting photo's won't speed it up.

imgburn can write data to dvd if your operating system (XP?) doesn't support it

Make sure you have multiple copies of any data on external media, and can read them, if you plan going down the factory restore route.
External hard disks (around £45+ for a 320GB portable) are more useful/resilient than flash drives for backup imo, not just your photos that may be of value, how would you go about reinstalling windows if the internal hard disk failed - a portable hard disk and a disk image backup http://www.macrium.com/reflectfree.aspx would be the easiest solution to that scenario.
Would also be useful for other machines if you have them!!

I prefer USB flash drives myself...
I only have one device which takes a microSD card - my phone, and I put a 32Gb card in there and won't be taking it out ever.I shot a vein in my neck and coughed up a Quaalude.

A photo or file that is in only one place is at risk.
We've had USB memory sticks break and/or get lost.
I keep thinks on multiple hard drives.
Incidentally, SSD drives are now ate a viable price - I've just got a 120 GB one for under £80; if I wanted it in an external enclosure, that would add something like £15 more.0
