Some TVs have a USB slot for photos, music etc. you haven't said how many photos you have, 32gb is a lot of photos.

Have about 13gb of photos stored on netbook already, family pics, holidays etc, would like to free up space on the netbook, could probably get away with 16gb but figured that as the price of memory wasn't too bad that could always add to the sdc or lash drive in future

you may want to look at some kind of external USB hard drive?
    I'd second an external hard-drive.

The cost is not that significantly different compared to the difference in storage space. Have a look on amazon.

This seems a little extreme for needs really and more expensive, had considered this before but it's something else to store and to be fair, sdc or flash drive is gonna be around the 15 quid mark

A USB stick is more likely to survive a trip through the washing machine.
    Why?

Much safer to leave them on the netbook unless it's really full up, and copy to usb hard disk and dvd(if you have a drive available), then you have 3 copies on different media - the odds of all 3 failing at once are slim. and dvd-r's aren't prone to infection, which the other 2 are.

Ever put something in your pocket and forgotten about it? They may be small but they are by no means fragile.

But a USB stick and a SD card are very similar technologies. I'm not sure why you think one would have more chance of surviving a washing machine cycle than the other?

A thin, flat SD card is easier to break and prone to becoming read-only thanks to those flimsy little switches on their sides.
