Unpleasant as your ordeal must've been, can you imagine being on the original flight that had to make an "emergency landing" with engine problems?!

I'd be quite willing to wait as long as it takes to make sure my plane is fit for service. I would be horrified to see airlines pushed into putting commerce before safety, which is exactly the road mass-compensation takes us down.

Rejoice in your health and that of your family, and be thankfull that your ordeal was merely inconvenient, not traumatic.

Grief I see your point but believe me the episode was very traumatic at the the time, having a screaming ill young child imprisoned in a hot airport for 12hours was a little more than an inconvenience.

I still feel that all the insurances we have to take out throughout our lives it's only right in situations like this that you are not left out of pocket.

I agree with what you are saying, but sadly, life doesn't work like that!

Have you checked your insurance for what you will be entitled to?

Hope your child is feeling better x

Use the small claims court. Sned a recorded letter to the airline stating your cost and what compensation you want, and te date you wanti t by or you will take tem to small claims. Then fill out the small claims stuff - can be done online.

But there has not been a breach of contract. The small claims court don't really deal with this kind of thing.

I wouldn't do that: not only will your suffering continue, your out of pocket expenses will increase, but I can't see any reason why you are legally due any additional compensation.

If you stand little chance of winning more money (how much did you pay for your flight? Jet2 have probably lost money on you already), then for your state of mind is it really worth continuing your fight?

Bizarre !, good to know someone else can relate to my frustration - what are you going to ask for in your letter ?

Did you hear that a local businessman who was on the flight had a complaint letter printed in this weekends Yorkshire Evening Post ? - he was pretty annoyed as well from what I can gather....bad press for jet2 is the last thing they'll want.

My wife is ringing the insurance today to see what they can do. I'll keep you posted.

my insurance won't cover anything other than the delay - all in all iv been told i will get a total of £80 for me and my wife! i will ask Jet2 for the total of our two flights for the return trip and then point out how disgusting the lack of communication and see what they say... (prob just sorry!) but i don'y see myself getting anymore!

did see the article - iv been in touch with them to! but not heard back! was a nightmare all of it!! just hope i get the flight money back - ours were fairly expensive as i booked late on!

    Mr_P,

You do understand that you are not entitled to the cost of the flight, and especially not for the return trip.

I understand your upset, but please be realistic about what to expect from them (especially as their customer service up to now is anything to go by!).
