Easter and Nestle (& alternative Easter ideas)

It's coming up to that time of year again!

I don't buy nestle products and will be choosing fairtrade, minimally packaged chocolate eggs for my 4 children this year (complete with a little toy of some kind, I am not an old meanie!)

Ideally I would prefer it if my nearest and dearest didn't give the children Nestle eggs either, sigh, but I am never sure how to go about asking them to choose more carefully.

If they do buy them I will let them eat the stuff of course, and I don't want to seem ungrateful..is it a non-starter, ie should I just bite my tongue, or what?

Also, if anyone has seen any good value eggs around fitting the above criteria, post here to let us all know!

Support Nestle Support British Jobs !

Eight factories in the UK one of which my Aunt worked at for twenty years and which helped to pay for her four children. All of whom now prosper and continue to add to the UK economy.

I suspect non of the production line workers would have a clue about the bad press Nestle recieves for some of its practices around the world but that is no reason to boycott their products.

    Charity begins at home.

I'm with you squashy. My children are older and choose themselves not to eat Nestle products, and always explain to people why.

It might have been helpful for the unenlightened among us for the OP to say what she found so objectional about Nestles.
If she has a good case I'm sure they would listen.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

i usually get aldi/lidl/netto ones from fasmily or kinnerton from woolies!

i buy mugs from charity shops and fill with fairtrade small bars/one big cheap lidl bar. and give a £2 dvd/book/clothes. (8 kids)

easter is a christian festival not a chocolate one!
Every day above ground is a good one ;)
  • I try and buy the Lindt chocolate bunnies - they have a thin layer of foil around them for packaging...and that's it. I HATE all the packaging!

Ask the people who will give your kids easter eggs to give them the money they would have spent on an egg in a card instead. Then each child can choose a toy with the money, and they will not be eating chocolate for weeks.

  • i've given up chocolate for lent and I can't wait for easter.

no nestle though. I fully support babymilk action. my kids eat non-nestle cereal and were all breastfed!

Most of the kids I know who support the ban are very vocal about their reasons for doing so - how about them writing a little message so that grannies etc can be told of their wishes. might be nicer than you having to say please don't buy Nestle but in the end as a parent you have every right to say that imo and most people will be happy to think about their gifts accordingly.
