Can I ask why boycott Nestle eggs when it's the babymilk they have a problem with .I'm not that old but I seem to remember Rowntrees were being took over from Nestle .Rowntrees were responsible for the Rowntree Trust. If you disagree with the babymilk don't buy the baby products from Nestle but to boycott the chocclate which is providing jobs here in Britain is a bit absurd.

This is turning into a bit of a Nestle debate, going back to the original Easter Egg Hunt...you can get some great fairtrade easter goodies. I found a great bargain which is fairtrade and good value.

The case roughly works out at about £2.50 an egg and it a Dubble Egg supported by Comic Relief and you can't say fairer then that

  • The most amazing chocolates in the world... made in England (by a French guy - so supporting English jobs!), from https://www.chouchoute.co.uk.

They are fantastic value for money and very environmentally friendly (compared with having to fly to Brussels for chocolates that are almost as good). You could also minimise packaging by going to the shop and eating them on the spot.

It's only a little company, so they would probably respond positively if anyone has good ideas for reusing/recycling packaging.

Also, because they're so good, you don't want to eat them all at once - so better for your diet as well. (Just don't tell the children!!!).

M&S have some really nice organic easter eggs that are nut-free too, so great for allergies.

Minimal packaging in the miniature ones that a friend bought my daughter - just a reusable cellophane bag with 8 eggs individually wrapped in a thin layer of foil. They look really nice and the ingredients are great.

Not sure how much they were, but my friend does not have a lot of money........

Ah, sorry, I realised you were after Fairtrade, not organic. Sorry!
But I'll leave the post incase anyone else finds it helpful.

I don't buy eggs anymore, complete waste of money, just another example of over commercialism of what is essentially a christian festival.

Why dont you give them a bar of chocolate instead..much more chocolate for the same price.
Then get them to paint eggs for easter which in my mind would be more fun and productive than the little games/quizes they have on the easter egg boxes
Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!
  • In the Czech republic people paint eggs and hang them in trees, as well as little biscuit things. It looks pretty, especially at the beginning of spring when the trees are still a bit bare.

(hmm - I think I need to retake that photo - doesn't really convey how pretty they were!)

May I ask if you are connected(work for/own etc) with ethicalsuperstore?

Nearly every post you have made is promoting products from this organisation who seem to charge a premium for their products.

If you look at Martin's introduction to this Green and Ethical Money Saving he states this should be about Money Saving and environmentally friendly.

That is entirely different to paying extra for products because they purport to be green.

Frankly from what I have seen of their products they are just another commercial organisation who have jumped on the Green bandwagon and selling overpriced goods with misleading descriptions.
  • A better picture of nice tree decorations (activity with children as alternative to easter eggs).
