Little update - the crisis has been adverted. OH's mate is lending him the money to pay off the car. He has to pay him back ASAP, but not at the expense of paying his share of the rent and bills.

That's a great friend if he's willing to step in like that, and to have offered rather than being asked. They must have a lovely unique friendship.
Does this avert your issue of him not being able to pay for things this month? All is back on track for you?0 -
Yeah, he's a good bloke. They've known each other since they were little. I'm really good friends with him too - we shared a house once (purely platonic).
Next month will be fine money wise now. Might even get that debt down a bit
