    Oh Emz, that's rubbish

No wonder he had a fight with his parents!

You're right - him moving out wouldn't achieve anything so what's the point.

I would tell him he still owes you the rent money the month after. In the meantime can he not pay say food or something on his CC so that you don't have to pay for that? I know encouraging putting things on a CC isn't a good idea, but it would only be temporary and you don't have joint finances do you?

He should also spend all month doing the cooking and cleaning if your going to have to work loads of extra hours as you won't have the time.

Could he do your surveys for you?

He doesn't have a credit card, well not one that he hasn't maxed out. He gets paid twice in August as he gets paid every 4 weeks, so he will end up paying the rent for August at the end of August (31st) and then the rent for September on the 28th etc etc. Means I will get the rent after I have paid it every month until July next year!!

Plus he pays the Sky and he hasn't paid it this month, so I'm going to have to pay that. If it were just the TV, I wouldn't bother, but we have the broadband with them, so if I don't pay the whole lot, I'll lose broadband which I need to work.

My only hope is that he has a better bonus than what he thinks. Although from what other people have said they're getting, it doesn't sound good.

That's not good if it will mess up when he pays his rent till next July

I can understand his parents not wanting to lend him the money to pay off the car loan as 3K is a lot of money. However, would they be willing to lend him the rent and Sky money and he can pay them that back the month after so that it keeps your rent/bills ticking over as they should?

He's not even talking to them at the moment though, and I'm not going to them cap in hand for the money.

I actually think they are finally doing the right thing by saying no to him. They have bailed him out so many times in the past and it's about time he learned that he can't keep running to them for money.

However, what annoys me is that they should have said no a long time ago. The car he has now was purchased with a loan that they went guarantor on for him (stupid stupid interest rate ). The car loan that he has to pay off is for his old car which he swapped for the one he has now and paid the guy extra money on top (funded by the guarantor loan). Back then I was telling him it was a stupid deal and the guy saw him coming - but he wouldn't listen.

Now, the car that he has is stuck in my parking spot with no tax, no insurance and a flat battery. I have told him to sell it, but he says he needs to get it back on the road and get the battery sorted which he of course doesn't have the money to do.

    In short, he's an idiot!!

He could sell it for a reduced price and therefore not need to tax it or replace the battery?

I don't know - I don't know much about selling cars to be honest!

Sorry Emz, what a frustrating postition to be in :(

Me neither. I have suggested that he just sells it in its current condition and he said he would lose a lot of money. It's just a heap of junk to me that is taking up my parking space.

I think I'm just going to have to struggle through August and then budget as if I am living on my own. Then when he pays me his share of the rent and bills, I can just pay that off debts and won't be reliant on him for the main bills.

Thanks for all the suggestions though Beccie :A

It would seem to me he is losing money no matter what - he will have paid over the odds for what it's worth anyway with a high interest rate and it must be depreciating in value every day it rusts away unused. But when is there ever telling men anything!

I think your plan sounds like probably the best way, it's just a shame that you will have to work so much harder when it's not your fault.

It's you though - so I am sure you are more than capable! :D

I know, I think it's stubborn male pride that's stopping him selling it to be honest.

Just waited in all morning for the post for his bonus letter, and we didn't have any. Typical!!

    Hi Emz

Oh how frustrating for you, sounds like he needs to be on these boards.

How much would he get for the car at reduced price?

If he doesn't pay the loan immediately, what happens?

    xx
    Debt - CCV £3792
CCB £1383 (took a hit for a holiday)

    Loan 1 £1787

    Hi DF

Not sure how much he would get for the car. It's a 'bloke's car', so not your run of the mill Fiesta or anything. It would only appeal to other lads. I think he would get enough to pay the loan back though.

The problem with the loan is that it's HP for the car he doesn't have anymore. So technically what he has done is illegal, even though he didn't technically sell the car (he received no money for it), he no longer legally owns it. The finance company found this out because he was in arrears and they contacted the new owner (a guy he knows). So I think if he doesn't pay it back when he gets paid, he might be in trouble with the police.

Such a flaming mess and if he had listened to me a couple of years ago, he wouldn't be in any trouble.
