Tell him that the GF is living in LaLa land and he's infatuated and letting his c0ck make his thought processes be clouded.

He needs to think what he really wants and to sober up really quickly.

    what a pr*ck!

Are there any children he intends to abandon with such...erm....abandon?!

Please tell his wife, from me, as someone who has been there done that, that:
    a) she seriously is better off without him
    b) she will get over it
    c) that a good divorce lawyer is worth their weight in gold
    d) and that the best revenge is letting the other woman have him (and in this case, other woman sounds very, very deserving....!)

Unless your "friend" is disabled, it is very unlikely that he would be classed as eligible for emergency housing. Assuming he is over 18 & under 65, he will very likely be told to find his own accomodation & pay for it himself.

The same will apply to his ta*t, unless she is under 18, has dependant children or has proof of pregnancy (usually a MATB1 form).

They will however be eligible to apply for council housing like any other person in whatever town they turn up in.

BTW, does your "friend" have children with his wife?

Does he have a mortgage on his current home with his missus?

Utterly ridiculous. By all means live in la la land, but at least tell him to stay on the same planet as everyone else.

Do it like 'normal people' do. Sell/leave his current home, sort out financials and divorce, buy or rent somewhere with or without this 'woman'.

I agree, the wife should be celebrating, I hope Mr Right is just round the corner for her.

Although, I give the husband & his mistress a wet week and it'll all be over. The grass is never greener on the other side as one would say.
