Hi I am new to this site and in need of some advice... I have received a letter from civil enforcement saying that my debt for a parking ticket has been passed over to a debt collection agency. I tried to telephone as I was not aware that I had any outstanding tickets. Unfortunately the telephone number on the letter is a "24 hour" payment line and will not allow you to speak to a human.. On the letter it mentioned the co-op in Manchester so I telephoned them.. When I spoke to the traffic team they said that a lot of people have been ringing to say that they had received the same letter. A lady from that team rang me today and said that she managed to get hold of someone in civil enforcement and they said that it was a parking ticket from 2010... My question is that why is this the first time they have contacted me regarding this ticket? And if I did have this ticket outstanding then why have I not had bailiffs at my door... Should I refuse to pay it and if so what will happen?0
