Hi Waddler_8,
I had it saved on 'download' folder so I copied it over onto the desk top, again had to disable Avast, tried running it but still just flashes up a box very very quickly and that's it?
Did you download it directly to the affected PC or onto another PC?
Delete the copy on your desktop and try downloading it again

Hi Figment,
I have deleted and retried numerous times but still it won't open (apart from a split second)?
I even downloaded on my old PC (and tried it on there successfully - took a while to scan so this might have some problems on it too)
I then copied over via a usb stick but still the same result - no go.
Would this be the virus blocking it or something else on my pc that I could overide?0 -
It seems something on your PC is preventing it from running.
Try downloading the Sophos Virus Removal Tool to your desktop. Install and then run. It will take several hours to scan your entire system, at the end of which it will show a report of anything it finds and a button to proceed with cleaning your system. How do I add a signature?0 -
You could also use Who Crashed to analyse the crash dump files that are normally created following a system freeze/crash.
This may give some clues of what caused the system to freeze. How do I add a signature?0 -
Have you tried to run DSS in safe mode?
Did you ever get Malwarebytes to complete a (quick) scan?0 -

Yes, aswMBR scanned with Avast definitions the places malware is likely to be too. There's no sign of infection at all so far.0

If you can't run DDS, try OTL.
Download OTL from the link below and save it to your Desktop.
LINK- Double click on OTL.exe to run it.
- Click the Quick Scan button. Do not change any other settings.
- When done, two Notepad files will open.
- OTL.txt <-- Will be opened
- Extras.txt <-- Will be minimized
- Post the contents of these 2 Notepad files in your next reply.
