DLA indefinitely?

I'm another on an inefinite award. I was told it was because my condition is unlikely to ever improve.
I currently get lrc and lrm. I am probably borderline now for care as things are getting more and more difficult for me. I could ask for a reconsideration/reassessment in the hope that the care component will be increased. but am worried that I'll lose both instead! It took me long enough to persuae them that I should get my initial award (I had help from DIAL - it went for reconsideration and then appeal before I was accepted).
My concern with PIP is that as I am on lower for both, I will probably lose both. DLA makes such a difference to my life - it helps me stay reasonably independent.
All I can do is hope that when the change over comes I will get a fair assessment (for DLA to PIP and also for IB to ESA) ...but the more I read and hear the less hopeful I am!0 -
Someone should tell MPs like Cleggy that even though someone may be on an indefinate DLA award they can be reassessed at any time under the Rights Payment Programme. Cleggy has been trying to justify these nasty con-lib changes to DLA by claiming that if you're on an indefinate DLA you are never checked. Maybe [Cleggy] should do his DLA homework first or is he just putting out misinformation about DLA claimants!!!0

What is 'working age'?
If someone currently receives say HRM - DLA and they become 65 a month after the date PIP starts next year, and it takes until say 2016 to get round to assesssing him/her,they could well be 68 in 2016!
If after the re-assessment they are not awarded enough points and have no mobility award under PIP, and they lose the appeal at the Tribunal (very likely given government intentions), they can never re-claim the mobility element again.
Whereas someone who becomes 65 a month before PIP comes in and has the same DLA award will keep that award as they are not to be assessed for PIP!!
I can see a lot of Motability cars going back and a lot of claimants never able to get them back again.
Hello Andy, Disability Living Allowance will end for everyone of working age, which is 16 to 64 on the day Personal Independence Payment is introduced, even if they have an indefinite period award.
If it takes until that person is 68 before they are reassessed then they will have had an extra 3 years grace
They have to have a cut off date, and it's completely impossible to reassess all those who are 64 by the time PIP is introduced.“How people treat you becomes their karma; how you react becomes yours.”0 -
another cost to a goverment trying to save money,i aint gonna get any better only worse,so y send me for a medical, knock me off and then the appeal process,,will they save more than it costs to implement all the medicals etc0

My husband has been on indefinite high rate mobility since he very first claimed about 15 years ago. He's been on middle rate care for about 8 years, at first the award was for 3 years then they changed it to indefinite. But as others have said indefinite means nothing really because they can review it at any time.Dum Spiro Spero0

An indefinite award depends on the medical condition. If you have something incurable, are already having difficulties and it is confirmed you will never get any better, then you will get an indefinite award. However, even people on an indefinite award will be reassessed under the PIP scheme so it's pretty meaningless0

DLA won't be cut off, it will end in the sense that PIP will replace it for those of working age. It won't end, no payments, then apply for PIP, it's a transfer only, people will still be paid until assessment has completed for them and any new award will then replace their old one.“How people treat you becomes their karma; how you react becomes yours.”0

But a 64 year and 11 month old DLA claimant that has HRM indef is quite likely to lose that award under PIP as they may not be able to walk very well, but do not want to be put in a wheelchair.'The More I know about people the Better I like my Dog'
