I thought the general rule of thumb for AC was that once you get above 50mph it's more efficient to use the AC than to wind the windows down.

It's not really something I worry about. I have a condition that makes me very sensitive to heat, so I just use the AC anyway, I usually have it on 18 or 19, even in the winter. Currently I'm just annoyed that it's failing on the company car, once the outside temperature goes above 23 degrees it just can't cope, and they can't fix it until next week. I already tried jetwashing the condenser, which did improve things but still far from ideal.

Yep I've seen that mooted, but what it can't get over is that wind in the hair feeling that is open top.

Conversly the worst case, infact the only case of sunstroke I had, was the day I picked up a Westfield 150 miles from home and drove for 2 hours at 70 down the M1 with the sun on my bonce, wish you could buy that by the bottle, :A:A

You can overdo it both ways, ;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

If I want that feeling I have to pick the worst of both worlds, wind the windows down and crank the AC all the way to 16 degrees, at which point it's fighting a losing battle and sucking down fuel needlessly.

Then my hair gets blown all over the place and covers my face so I can't see, so I wind the windows back up and stop being so stupid :)

How do you run your air-con in winter? In my car the minimum setting for the temp control is 12deg, so if the exterior temperature is lower than that, the air-con doesn't need to operate to lower the temperature in the cabin, it will just use fresh air.

Air conditioning is not just for cold air
