Us it with the heater to demist - it dehumidifies the air0

Up to you what you do, but it sounds to me more you are just being contrary. I go back to my original point, how many pathogenic organisms will colonise on a steering wheel, gearstick or door handle? Also you forget it's perfectly plausible for bacteria to colonise a normal heating and ventilation system in a car, without air-conditioning.

Exactly another of my points, :T:T. And I did elaborate about the power loss/extra fuel consumption, please read again.
You've said that before and I am not, accept it please
Now I will repeat what I said, I would pay to have air con removed from a new car if I was stupid enough to by one,
You need to accept that others have different views to you, kill them or get along with them fella:cool:I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -

Like I said, if you're that bother about what equates to a couple of bags of shopping in the boot, then be my guest.
I think you do need to get in to the real world though, when you talk about paying to remove it from a new car... (How long will that take you to recoup in fuel consumption?) Surprised you wouldn't remove it yourself though, judging by all the "stripping out" you've done?
Now't as queer as folk though.0 -

Look I was having quite a light hearted couple of posts here please don't offensive about my abilities or what you think are idiocyncrasies (sp).
What I was getting at was I would sooner have a car without A/C than with, end off.
And yes I take weight saving, ie, fuel consumption or power depending, very seriously. Never put more fuel in the car than I immediately need and I even remove the rear seats from my estate car permanently as both a weight saving and practicality.
As regards my abilities I have built 3 cars from scratch, the 1st as an 20 year old and the last at 50, owned Westfields and such like for years, I know whats important in a car for my purposes and for good reason. You want to carry excess weight around and run with a full tank then do so, I'll bank the fuel and power savings:p:p
(yes I know you didn't mention full tanks but you seem to find embroidary acceptable so hey ho.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

How does the weight saving of less fuel in the tank compared to the increased fuel consumption of additional trips to the petrol station?0
-
Yes a fact to bear in mind of course but I visit 3 local supermarkets almost every day on my "travels". (don't get me started on my money saving methods at super markets
)
All of these have a filling staion, the most local 1 being a Co op with a Texaco station so hopefully avoiding possible sm fuel issues.
Works for me.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

How does an air-conditioning system that is switched off increase fuel consumption in the real world, that's what I want to know.
cycloneBri, I've also built cars from scratchI'd rather carry another 20kg of fuel and not have to keep stopping, but like you say, ultimately you can do whatever you want. I think you are talking about such negligible benefit, and any fuel savings would be removed by PAYING somebody to remove the system........
But, as I said, now't as queer as folk, and you are free to do as you wish.

I thought the general rule of thumb for AC was that once you get above 50mph it's more efficient to use the AC than to wind the windows down.
It's not really something I worry about. I have a condition that makes me very sensitive to heat, so I just use the AC anyway, I usually have it on 18 or 19, even in the winter. Currently I'm just annoyed that it's failing on the company car, once the outside temperature goes above 23 degrees it just can't cope, and they can't fix it until next week. I already tried jetwashing the condenser, which did improve things but still far from ideal.0 -

Yep and while we are talking queerfolk, so can you, but, you need to reread my earlier post about "removing" chap, and accept other folks points of view.
They are all out of step except me, is a phrase that springs to mind fella?????????????????I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
