    The value looks about right.

Have you discovered that Albany have been making mistakes then ?

Bear in mind the recent MOT does not increase the value of the car, also remember to take the tax out when you settle.

It might be worth asking around as to what you can scrap the car for as Allianz and probably Albany will often deduct the scrap value from the settlement and allow you to handle scrapping it yourself.

Are Albany paying you the write off value or ERS

Your posts are not very clear.

Are you saying Allianz paid £3850 minus scrap value of £962 so they paid you £2887?

    What is the "-25".

What sort of damage is there to your car and is it extensive damage.

Both Albany and Allianz agree tthe car is worth £3850

that figure of course is minus the scrap value of the car the scrap merchant pay me separately

Albany say is worth £423 :(

Allianz say its worth £962 (25%)

I have the Allianz cheque for £2887 in my hands

    BUT

I sent the letter authorising albanys scrapper guy to take it and pay me £423 today, I even RM ND specialed it

    £540 difference

Have you tried asking other salvage companies what they value the scrap as.

You have a duty to mitigate your losses (Keep them to a reasonable amount) If Albany have made a mistake (Not unusual) then the scrap value may be as per Allianz or it may well be a different amount.

You could ask Allianz about the scrap value as they normally have a national contract for their own policyholders where they get a set amount. They may be able to get this amount for you.

You could also try asking Albany about the difference as they may have agreed the lower amount with Allianz

tempted to send this FAX'ed tomorrow when I get to work at 06.00

will of course have a header with the info

"This FAX supersedes and countermands the letter you are about to receive from my self dated and signed 14/06/2012

Permission for you take take my car ******* is hereby resided with immediate effect.

Allianz, the third party's insurance value the car at the same £3850 Albany value it at, however they value the car at in it current unrepaired cat D state at £962 vs your £423, a £540 difference, until this discrepancy is solved, you will take not take possession of what is my car, should you take it still I will refuse to allow the DVLA to reregister it, and I may even report it stolen to the police.

    15/06/2012"
