Harry Potter DVD and a 2 year old

My youngest was 2 when we started reading the Harry Potter books, he got to listen because I was reading them to my older boys at bedtime, I'm not sure how much of it he understood though. He was about 6 or 7 when the first film came out so could sit still and take it all in by then. A wand or a cuddly Hedwig would probably keep your friend's little boy happy.Over futile odds
And laughed at by the gods
And now the final frame
Love is a losing game0 -
Whether it's Harry Potter or not, I'm not a great lover of giving DVDs to young children, I'd rather give something that doesn't involve a screen and sitting passively (or at least supposedly!). Far better to give a book or an activity toy.. well I would anyway!0

my 5 year old has seen the first one but I did have to stop the film in places and explain what was about to happen and how it was all pretend.
Any younger than this, she would not have understood the concept of pretend.
(And she is not watching the others for many years yet)0
