I wouldn't, they do have a sense of dread and a complicated story line. i wouldn't want it spoilt for him for when he is old enough to appreciate it. there are far more age appropriate and excellent dvd's around for young kids.

I think the first one is a PG, so technically it would be allowed as the parent has agreed. But personally I'd be questioning whether to let my 8 year old watch it, definitely not a 2 year old.
My wife was scared considerably by it, iirc!

Some parents are happy with stuff like that and some children cope with it. That's up to them. But I wouldn't be involved in the buying of it.

It's one thing to be "into" Harry Potter and have a Harry Potter lunchbox and play with Harry Potter Lego (though at under 2 I'd be surprised at either of these!) but does the mum know how scary the films are?

How about getting him "The Sword in the Stone" Disney DVD - that's got a wizard in it?

Will it be awkward now if you don't buy him Harry Potter? Depending on how well you know the boy you could say something like "I didn't know which Harry Potter DVDs he's already got, and thought some of them looked a bit grown up".

I stopped watching the Harry Potter DVDs because they are scary - and I'm 43!

we have all the dvd's as I have teenagers who were into Harry potter when it first happened - my 8 year old has only just started watching them , they have been on when he has been in the room but they were just too complex for him to understand so he wasn't interested - which is exactly what I told a friend who asked if it was suitable for her 4 year old

My daughter is 3 and I won't let her watch them - there's so much out there that is suitable for that age, why buy something so complex and with such potential to raise questions they can't comprehend? If she wants a DVD, my DD loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Little Einsteins, and they have the benefit of being somewhat educational too.

Unless this is a particularly gifted 2yo I can't really see that they either have the patience to sit through the film nor be able to follow the story or understand the dialogue.

Sounds to me as if the parents fancy HP for their own collection ;)

Please somebody tell me this is a wind-up - either the OP winding us up, or the parents winding up the OP....?
