Problem with lloyds bank atm not paying out money

There is another possibility... It could have been stolen.
You have probably heard of thieves putting a look-alike facia over the front of ATM card slots and reading the magnetic stripes while a little camera sees your PIN.
Well there is another type of theft which involves a facia that goes over the money payout slot. So the machine counts the money and deposits it behind the facia. The thieves then wait for you to go and collect their facia with your money. The bank inspects the machine but there is no evidence of tampering and the ATM was working correctly... so they don't believe you.
Insist that all CCTV footage (if any) is recovered. That's the only way to be sure.0 -

Yes I saw that on TV too, frightening stuff as there is no proof. Best avoid the machines outside the branch as I doubt all will have CCTV. Use a cashier or at least use a inside the branch machine if you can as there will be CCTV in the branch :-)0 -

If that note is creased or torn in the cassette's mechanism it could cause the whole transaction to fail. While you would expect this to immediately correct the customer's account it is possible for the debit to still be applied.
The machine could then continue dispensing cash to customers from the other cash cassettes inside - with no repeat problems.0 -
Thank you to all the members who added messages.
I have just had a call from LLoyds Bank confirming the £600 has been credited back to my account after the ATM showed up the discrepency today after the machine was balanced for the week.
Phew what a long week it has been.0 -

I have a business account & went to the ATM to withdraw £600 cash, I heard the machine counting the money & my card was released, waited approx 1 minute for cash & receipt but still no money then it was showing "please insert card" I managed to get someones attention who worked for LLoyds but only to be told the £600 had been debited and not re-credited & I now have to wait until next Wednesday (only fill machine up every Wednesday morning) to find out if the machine is £600 over. I was told that there was nothing else they could do.
This is so unfair as I have never gone overdrawn, borrowed money & have been banking with them for around 15 years.
Has anyone ever experienced problems like this with LLoyds TSB. It seems so unfair.
I had a similar problem yesterday with my business account. Heard the machine counting, it released my card, waited for approximately a minute for cash but no money was dispensed. It came up with a message "Your transaction has been cancelled" please take your card and my account was debited £500, the amount I wanted to withdraw.0 -
you know what ? I wouldn't want to withdraw that amount from an ATM in any case.
Ok, I'm a little paranoid, as I'm a small female, but I generally don't like withdrawing cash from an ATM, as I feel someone could be watching from a short distance away. Easy to see you pull out a large wad of cash (£600 is going to be quite a wad in 20s), follow you and remove it from you some distance away - be honest, it's worth their while to follow your car for that amount.
I would feel much more secure going to the counter for such a large amount.
I sometimes think back to when I was a child - my father ran a business, and used to go the bank every friday, about the same time, and get the wages money in a gladstone bag, which he would carry round the corner to where his car was parked. This was wages for about 30 people, so would have been quite an amount of money ! There was no option in those days.
I even remember him coming to visit me when I was in hospital, and making up the wages packets on my bed - he didn't have time to visit me and do the wages, so he combined the 2!!I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.0 -
I had exactly the same problem with an HSBC machine (located in the Jubillee Place branch at Canary Wharf) today. Tried to draw £100 out, the machine went through the usual process, returned my card and then kept beeping at me and telling me to take my money even though there was none there. After about a minute it stopped and told me my transaction could not be completed due to a technical problem. I went and used the machine next to it with no problem but when checking on-line I saw both transactions had been debited.
I don't think (or at least hope) it wasn't the false facia scam (it would seem risky doing that in what is a very high security area due to perceived terrorist risk).
Naturally there were no staff around to speak to (except behind the counter with a very long queue) and I'm a NatWest customer anyway. So I called NatWest and was told it should be reconciled overnight and, if not, I need to go into a NatWest branch to get an ATM incident report form. I foresee a lot of administrative aggravation in my future...0 -

It's not even a paper form anymore, the staff member will fill it out for you on their computer!0 -
Hi,
I tried to use a Lloyds TSB ATM and it just made a lot of noise. After 3 or 4 minutes said transaction cancelled. Then I check my account and the money is gone. Now since the card is from another bank they said I need to wait 60 days for a resolutions. This is just infuriating.
Did you get your money back in the end?0
