Problem with lloyds bank atm not paying out money

Hi has anyone else experienced problems with Lloyds TSB ATM machines.

I have a business account & went to the ATM to withdraw £600 cash, I heard the machine counting the money & my card was released, waited approx 1 minute for cash & receipt but still no money then it was showing "please insert card" I managed to get someones attention who worked for LLoyds but only to be told the £600 had been debited and not re-credited & I now have to wait until next Wednesday (only fill machine up every Wednesday morning) to find out if the machine is £600 over. I was told that there was nothing else they could do.
This is so unfair as I have never gone overdrawn, borrowed money & have been banking with them for around 15 years.

Has anyone ever experienced problems like this with LLoyds TSB. It seems so unfair.

What they are basically saying is that although they could fix by the next day, they can't be bothered or don't have time, so they just tell you to come back next week. If you issue a complaint, it will probably take until then anyway.

So not much you can do really. Plus, theres still a small chance you'll get credited before then (eg. if the same happens to other people).

I can understand their logic. You don't really want to get some with authorisation to unload the ATM just to check if it forgot to pay you, specially if its only a one-off.

    Thanks for the reply.

The £600 was wages for myself, one employee & petty cash so I suppose its a good job there was enough money in the account to go back tomorrow to withdraw it again as I had almost used the daily allowance on the card.

It would have been a different scenario if thats all I had got left in the bank to live on & pay bills etc.

Surely you wouldn't want to try another ATM withdrawal - not before the issue with the missing £600 has been resolved to your satisfaction, anyway?
  • Get in now with the complaint - to ensure any CCTV from the unit is retained

I havent used the ATM since just in case it happens again. I have been checking the account online daily but no credit is showing I doubt it will now.

Wednesday cant come round quick enough to get the money back.

Is your card issue by LTSB or another bank? If it's another bank then you MUST report it them as they are the ones who will have to recredit your account once LTSB confirm that the cash was not dispensed. If it's a LTSB card then I'd be making a complaint through your business account manager, insisting that they either credit your account immediately or cover any charges you incur for unexpected overdraft.

Was this one or more transaction. Didn't think you could withdraw £600 in one go.
Why pay your employees in cash at all - why not use faster payments?

I'm sure that the bank did not deliberately want to deprive you of your cash but these days staff have been cut to the minimum and cash machines are balanced once a week.
Machines do sometimes break down for various reasons - from note jams to hardware failure.
I'm sure you will get your funds on Wednesday/Thursday depending on the time of the balance.

Surely if there was a fault with the machine it would affect anyone else who was to use it afterwards. Surely if that was the case and the bank were informed they would want to do something to sort it out or take it out of action?

Indeed it would - the machine would close down.
Depending on the bank - some staff would attempt to clear the note jam and get the machine open again but this would not help OP as they would still only balance the machine once a week.
