Hi ladybird, hope you've had a good weekend. How are things with you?

Morning all! Wow, a whole month has passed since I last posted!
Mixed month here. On the down side we have continued to be a bit rubbish, but on the plus side my husband has scored a nice big promotion (different office but not too much further away thankfully) so we have more money coming in now. Trouble is, now things are a lot less tight there is a lot less incentive to be strict with ourselves so the debt busting has slowed down rather.Silly as it should be the other way round.
Currently down to £26,681 so as the first anniversary of our LBM approaches (it was April last year) we will have paid off about £11k, which isn't bad I suppose! Things should speed up now we have more coming in, we just need to get a bit of our determination back. Been doing ok with grocery shopping (meal planning, Lidl/Aldi for weekly shop), I think our good habits are quite engrained now, but not doing so well on other spending bits... a jumper here, a toy or two there, make up, haircuts. We haven't been on a spending frenzy or anything but just slipped back a bit to old ways.
Would be nice to hit £25k before the end of April, I think we will end up just shy of it though.
Hope everyone is well and that your own debt free journeys are going well x0 -
Well done ladybird that's a massive achievement :-) xxxStarted again 25th December 2017
Current tracking - £7,955.84/ £18,282.25 to pay off. (31.12.19)0 -
The amount you've paid off in a year is what some people earn before tax so you really should be patting yourselves on the back.
I know what you mean about being less strict. I find that while I read others diaries I'm much more focused. In my real life I rarely discuss money so it's easy for my finances to take a back seat. That's just what works for me. Plus, there's nothing quite like the support and cheering each other on.
This year is definitely on high speed, although I will be happy to say goodbye to the freezing temperatures.0 -
Thank you both!
I am definitely more focused when I spend time on here and post regularly- when I look back through my diary I can see exactly when we were at our most careful as those are the months with plenty of posts! Should spend more time on here again, commit to a weekly update at least. It is a wonderful source of encouragement and inspiration.
You are right MuffinTops it is a lot of money- even more when you think how much we will have actually paid towards the debts given the figure won't include the £500 odd we pay in interest every month.
Frosty start here but an absolutely glorious day out there now! Spring is definitely here :j
It's so lovely seeing bunches of daffodils in the shops again, at £1 a bunch they are well worth the little bit of happiness they spread sat on our windowsillI shall be keeping my vase regularly replenished with them!

Hi Ladybird, lovely to read your posts- have missed you.
I think most of the diaries I follow on MSE are going though similar, people have been posting less, me included and spending a bit more.
I am back on the straight and narrow now- committed to spending time on the forums instead of in the shops!!
What a massive achievement, you must be very pleased. Hopefully with DH promotion you can make more progress throughout 2013.
