Can I Get A Speed Bump / Hump?
Comments

Seconding the opinions to think very carefully about speed bumps. It could well end up costing you more in suspension damage, plus the noise as the people you complain about slam on for the bump, bang over it and then put their foot down again. Some people do this deliberately to try and annoy residents into asking for the bumps to be removed, others just have cars that are noisy on acceleration.
There are better ways to slow traffic down, this may even be one of the situations where a speed camera is actually appropriate (though you'll never get one installed)
If this is not a proper main road, perhaps a chicane with a bollard on it may be more appropriate.
Also, are you parking on the top of the T on a T junction, directly opposite the oncoming road, a bit like this guy?

How long did that last until he was asked to remove it or was it done with the full consent of the council and highways agency?Something similar was done in Hertfordshire. A chap in Lower Road, Great Amwell paid for the installation of a chicane type structure (two lanes into one with priority in one direction) outside his house, apparently for the protection of this children.0 -
We have muppets who do that on our estate too. The real noise-free, environmentally friendly solution would be double yellow lines within a ten metre radius of the junction so that there are no parked cars to crash into while negotiating it - speeding or otherwise. Also, are you parking on the top of the T on a T junction, directly opposite the oncoming road, a bit like this guy?
Rule 243 of the highway code advises not to park near a junction for this reason.0 -
Speed bumps are the work of the devil (as are all so called traffic 'calming' measures)0

Far from slowing speeding motorists down, when Colchester Borough Council installed speed bumps in the New Town area, every boy-racer for miles around came along to take part in a 'who can fly the furthest off the speed-bump' competition. Speeds hit 90+ mph.Never Knowingly Understood.

I am disabled and drive a lowered vehicle to allow me a the only bit of independance I have, its not vanity but a underfloor powered ramp that means my vehicle is lowered yet I pay the price for stupid, irrisponsible drivers when councils put speed humps anywhere and everywhere which are often an illegal height (over 750mms)
And if any of you are the mindless pratts that overtake me when I crawl of these illegal speed humps shame on you, open your eyes and you will see why Im going so slow.0 -

I'll put you in touch with two paramedics with 32 years experience each who'll disagree with you there.

I wonder if that photo is the OP's car?
I though it was illegal to park closer than 30ft to a junction. Or is my old brain going?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
