Gosh this is hard work
I do nothing but think about money, talk about money, say we can't afford anything! Feel guilty if I buy ANYTHING regardless of the fact its a neccessity!! It all seems a long hard slog
On the positive side!!!
1. I have not increased my debt at all
2. My debt has gone down every month (even if its not always been by as much as I had hoped!)
3. Christmas shopping is done and NONE of it is on credit :T
I need to keep at it and keep motivated!!LBM April 10 2012 Debt £13,658

I know how you feel currently going through the same, everyday I try and find new ways to make the debt smaller.
I find sticking with my diary really helps
Thanks

Hi ...... just stumbled on your diary ...... and want to say ........
Well done on what you've managed so far :T
It's not easy .... especially at the start when you have to get used to (usually) a change in spending habits / lifestyle and the first few months can be really tough but it does get easier and you do adjust to it.
Every little bit that the debt goes down will help ...... and wow to getting Christmas shopping done without any of it adding more debt :T that's a huge achievement:j
ETA visit your diary often .... I whitter / moan away in mine all the time - and it really does help. I do sometimes have gaps when I don't write anything and that's when I start to get really down about things.Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Wow, I think you're doing so well. To be reducing debt and also have a credit free Christmas is an amazing accomplishment. Hoping I can follow suit. All I ask is the chance to prove that money can't make me happy.

Thank you all for your encouragement
Today is payday - and now all the bills have gone out, paid some off the debt and I am -£36 overdrawn
We do dip in and out of an arranged overdraft each month so this is normal until oh pay day on Tuesday but I have decided after my credit card bill is paid then the overdraft is next on my hit list!
I know i need to leave at least £300 more in the account each month and the we would never dip into it
One step at a time though can't do it all at once!!
Noe for my favourite part of the month...off to update my signature with a lower debt amount

Not only have I stalled but I have gone full throttle into reverse! Well it feels that way !!!
I have added £400 to the loan (family loan) and the catalogue had an emergency buy of £72.95 (yep computer knackered and needed to purchase hard drive to save 20,000 photos)
The £400 covered maintenance on broken radiators, call out charges oh and xmas outfit for the kids!
This month I will be paying £150 off car as well as £350 off credit card - I'll be doing that tomorrow. So I am getting back on track but feel guilty to have had a backward step as well.
Positive note was all presents bought as xmas were not paid with using credit and I am pleased about that (even though debt increased slightly due to above)
I am getting an unexpected bonus in February......and I am going to pay off the credit card YIPPPEE! Also will pay the catalogue YIPPPEE Thats it the catalogue and the credit card will both be closed down in Feb.....and that feels good :-)LBM April 10 2012 Debt £13,658

wow that felt good! I have just paid a big chunk off the visa and got it down to under £500.......it's not been that for over a year! I plan on using EVERY spare penny next month and getting rid of this card once and for all.
The catalogue is interest free for 3 months but I aim to pay that off quicker as well.
I really wanted my hair down today (it needs it!) but it felt better paying the visa than it would have done sitting feeling guilty in the salon!LBM April 10 2012 Debt £13,658

Morning!
Well done on paying of such a big chunk in a year :j
It's weird how much this debt paying off malarky takes over your life. I'm constantly thinking about money, talking about it, trying to come up with ways to save money etc etc, it's so draining sometimes.
Me and DH bought a chinese takeaway last week, our first in maybe 6 months. Felt guilty as sin about it, and it wasn't even that tasty
Won't be doing that again! Just need to resist Dominos 2 for tuesday
Can't think of anything smart to put here...0 -
I am very happy :j
I made a quick call to an old bank - and they have just offered me £441 PPI claim :j It was from a small loan years and years ago
This means I can definitley pay both the visa and catalogue in February
Slowly but surely
