I have chosen custom install , then unticked them all. Gives you the option to ignore those updates in future

I checked them individually and they are not apllicable to my PC
Thanks - How do I know what is and is not applicable?

Woody Leonhard of AskWoody.com advises everyone to turn off automatic updates and update manually after waiting 2 or 3 weeks from the date of issue. That gives time for problems such as these to be spotted and (hopefully) ironed out by Microsoft before inflicting them on your machine.

He assigns MS-DEFCON values (after the US military system) to the current state of play and advises everyone to wait for an MS-DEFCON 4 before installing the current set of patches. At present he is at the highest state of alert "MS-DEFCON 1 Current Microsoft patches are causing havoc. Don't patch."

Same problem here. Repeatedly downloading and wanting to install... when I've installed a few times now.

    KB2518854, KB2572073, KB2633880

At turn off, that's when they get installed, but apparently not recognised they're installed when turning on computer again

    Thanks for that!

I've tried everything everybody else has done.

I even did a system restore to yesterday - but the same kept happening.

I've switched off the automatic updates now.

Given that KB2572073 dates back to October 2011 MS are taking their time in solving it.

Which does beg the question - if these are high priority updates why wait until today before they need installing?

And could anyone answer why it's ALWAYS .net updates that have these problems?

Forgot to mention - try turning off your anti-virus and/or firewall before doing the updates. It's worked for me.
