I have just seen someone is a petrol dieter, what's that?
If it's a way of saving on petrol i wouldn't mind knowing a bit more.......
I have to drive for my job and they cover petrol (Yeh right) by paying 22p per mile. Well this doesn't cover it entirely and i find myself paying out each month  (Completely unfair)
Any tips on petrol saving would be great...

Ooh, I've never seen this term before. Have you seen if by reducing your average speed you get better mileage? I try and keep to 60 on the 'big roads' but then I drive a real gas guzzler which I can't afford to replace.
Good luck.Make £2020 in 2020 £178.81/£2020

Sorry never heard of a petrol dieter!
Some tips to reduce fuel consumption:- Clear out all non-essential stuff from the boot etc - extra weight = more fuel
- Accelerate gently and change to the next gear as soon as poss - getting to 70 as quick as poss will use more fuel!
- Brake gently and (if safe) lift of the gas pedal when coming up to junctions / roundabouts etc
- Drive slower! Often sitting in the inside lane at say 60 rather than 70 means with the flow of traffic you'll catch up with cars who've pelted past you 5 mins earlier
- Check your tyre pressures (ideally once a month but more if you do high mileage) as under inflated tyres cause the car to use a lot more fuel

I've never heard of the term either, but if it's to make petrol go that little bit further there's some good tips on the motoring section here, eg keep tyres at correct pressure, turn air con off, declutter the car and dont run on a full tank to minimise the car's load etc etc

Even if your employer is only paying you 22p per mile, if you are using your car for business you can claim tax back on 45p per mile (for the first 10k miles, 25p after). Give HMRC a call and ask how.Do you not know that a man is not dead while his name is still spoken?

Just a quick point the dropping your speed to 60mpg isn't actually correct on all cars I drive an old BMW and it is actually more fuel efficiant at around 80mpg (obviously can only do 70mpg).
So check details with your car manufactor!Total Debt: £4610.75
