Let's look objectively re "insults and offensiveness"

Teachers pet (not a bad thing, just means you are hard working and likely to be in favour due to your hard work ethic), something we all strive to be really, it shows we are good and dedicated and give the teacher/manager no reason to fault us. Teachers pets are not workers who underform so to many a compliment.

    Rude

Hmm - Pass me the human rights book on being called rude

This thread has got to be a joke, if someone called me a Teachers Pet at work, i would probarly laugh at them and make a joke out of it, i have been called alot worse all in the name of mickey taking, having issues with people etc but not once have i complained or started talking about m Human Rights because we are all Adults!!!!!

Imagine if someone had called the opening poster a real bad name, he/she would probarly have a nervous breakdown!!!!

The Human Rights Act is nothing to do with employment
That has to be challenged. The Human Rights Act enshrines the European Convention on Human Rights into UK law. From the ECHR
Article 11 – Freedom of assembly and association 1. Everyone has the right to freedom of peaceful assembly and to freedom of association with others, including the right to form and to join trade unions for the protection of his interests.

I am concerned when people like the OP trivialise Human Rights - so that people have this mistaken notion that Human Rights is about letting criminals get away with it and about protecting the office wimp. And I am concerned when other people come and deny that it has any relevance to the important issues of life.

Teachers Pet is a rather childish term.

    R. Slicker may have been more appropriate.
