Perhaps the individuals working there don't have a personal value base congruent with social care work.

Why do senior staff encourage this behaviour or are they also complicit?
    Don’t be a can’t, be a can.
  • Human rights???? lol.

You have the right to be insulted, like everyone else or possibly overreact too!

    Article 1.

All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.
just copied that from the Universal declaration of Human right

I think you are probably spot on with that comment.
not sure about the seniors... the assistant manager was present when this was said as was the 13 clients at meal time.

OK, now go and look up a law that is applicable in this country. Then look up examples of true contraventions. It might just give some context to your "violation".
  • Is being called teachers pet even an insult? Were you not called worse as a child?

My god, what is this world coming to?

    Hello

I know this may sound rather school playground ish but..... Would you consider being called a "teachers pet" at work discrimation and a violation of the human rights?

I don't really want to go to her level but am quite angry with the comment.

I think this person is very unprofessional to have made such a comment but I also think your reaction to it, is not proportionate to the 'crime' iyswim.

I can understand a feeling of annoyance but thoughts of 'discrimination and a violation of human rights' is an over-reaction imo.

Sorry OP, don't want to offend. Maybe your annoyance is affecting how you see this?

Oh for goodness sake! Are you really going there?

Ok you don't like the good advice so here's some alternative advice. Submit a formal grievance that your co -worker called you a teachers pet in contravention of the Universal Declaration Of Human Rights. When the grievance is not upheld, appeal. Then resign and claim constructive dismissal and tell a tribunal how you were unfairly called a teachers pet and had no choice but to resign...

Grow up for goodness sake. If this sort of behaviour is how you all conduct yourselves, it is a wonder your manager hasn't said worse to you all.

I really don't know what to say.

Female circumcision, forced marriages, slavery, torture are contraventions of the Human Rights Act.

Being called 'Teacher's Pet'. Words fail me. Entirely.

Oh - I meant to say - 'Priceless'.
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.
