WeQ4U

I think he means that if you google alternative numbers to the 0845 /0870 etc then will likely find an alternative landline number anyway.
It only appears to work on numbers that have alternatives. Still easier to use than having to search for a number and then call it.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

weq4u obtain the alternative numbers mainly from the saynoto0870 database so its only as good as that database. They convert the target numbers into 03 numbers which are normally included in your landline minutes.
You can be charged to call the 03 numbers if you dont have inclusive landline minutes, ,or have used your allocation of minutes up.This can prove expensive .
Even if you have an alternative number already, it can save you inclusive minutes using this service,or money, if the the company your calling, normally take a long time to answer. As you dont incur the q time etc.0 -

yes there is. i noticed that after a recent update that every call was trying to be routed thru WeQ4U.
on the screen that you enter the phone number (on android app) there is a box to the left that says auto use. touch that and set it to off. that solves the issue.0 -
Irrespective of what number you are trying to call, the weQ4U app dials a specific 03 number to connect to the weQ4U central system. This call will be inclusive within your allowance else charged at geographic rate.
If the number you originally dialled starts 01, 02, 03 or 080 the central system simply calls that number. If the number you originally dialled starts 084 or 087 the central system attempts to find an alternative 01, 02, 03 or 080 number and then calls that. If no alternative can be found, the weQ4U session ends immediately and you will have to call the 084 or 087 number directly else make other arrangements.
The weQ4U system doesn't generally work for calls to 05, 07 or 09 numbers. Additionally, if you use the weQ4U system when calling an 080 number, the call is no longer free because your phone is actually dialling the central weQ4U 03 number to make the connection.0 -
Anyone tried using weq4u.co.uk via 18866 (0808 1 701 701) and using 0333 5432111 to phone 084/ 0870 numbers - does it still work and will I get charged 5p connection + 1p per minute
I'm on a Sky Landline PAYG package0 -
It should still work. The call to the 080 number will be free. 18185/18866 will bill you for a call to an 03 number and will be unaware of any further call forwarding.
Be aware that weQ4U does not 'phone 084 and 087 numbers'. You call their 03 number and key in an 084 or 087 number. Their system then uses the sayNOto0870 database to look up an 01, 02, 03 or 080 number. If one is found, their system calls that number. If nothing is found, the call ends.
Dialling an 080 number, to then dial an 03 number, which then dials another number could end up with abysmal call quality.
Now that customer services, financial services, public services and healthcare services are no longer allowed to use 084, 087 or 09 numbers, make sure you look on the official website of whoever you intended to call. Chances are they have changed their number and now list an 01, 02, 03 or 080 number.
You can then simply call the 080 number direct or call the 01, 02 or 03 number via the 18185/18866 service by using their 080 access number.
Treat all numbers found on old paperwork and on third-party websites as being out of date.0 -
To clarify: WeQ4U has two separate but related functions:
1. As the name says, we queue for you. For any number that puts you on hold, it lets you hang up and go about your business until a person is on the line (try to make sure your number isn't busy when they're likely to call you back).
2. If there is a cheap equivalent of an expensive number, they'll use it (otherwise the service won't work).
In the past mobile calls to 0800 freefone numbers were charged for, and WeQ4U got round that charge. Now that 0800 calls are free, WeQ4U to 0800 is only useful to save queuing (the call now comes out of your minutes, unlike calling direct, which is free).

Like someone above, I was about to write in asking how to turn off the Auto Dial bit.
I've now turned my Auto off, as I don't want to use it for every call.
Now, do I have to turn it back on to Auto if I want to use it for 1 call - then off again ?0
