Not being funny, but most contracts are max 24 months. If a business can't plan 24 months ahead and price its services accordingly, there is something very wrong with the business model. Afterall, they know they will be providing a device for x amount of time, and whilst you may not be able accurately forecast inflation, you can be pretty sure it will happen. That they increased prices by the inflation percentage says they didn't factor this in at all.

"PAYG customers aren't affected" because they've already had their prices doubled.

A common misconception. Most mobile contracts are for a minimum of 24 months.

Technically, they're for a maximum minimum of 24 months, if you want to be fussy about it...:)

What I meant was that you won't find (m)any contracts with a minimum term of over 24 months.

There are still some 12 & 18 month contracts out there, but 36 months contracts are yet to 'catch on'.

amazing you sign a contract buried in the terms can put prices up along with inflation. amazing how three can't work out over a 2year period what inflation is going to be???

you get a contract with sky or virgin for telly they put the prices up you are free to leave within a notification period guess now toothless ofcom have done this guess sky and such like will be jumping on the bandwagon with adding this one line into contracts and all broadband providers as well.

well done ofcom side of consumer fair play, like broadband providers hide behind 'upto' wonder if ofcom would allow consumers pay pro rata on the basis of service upto e.g. was promised 20mb broadband get 10mb bill should be £20 so on a pro rata basis will actually pay £10 sounds fair policy to me :) on the same basis no and fair for consumers?

just goes to prove ofcom not fit for purpose hopefully that dieased dinosaur will be put out of its misery soon as definetly not fit for purpose just hope new one would a 50% consumer panel part of the board, and not the same business bottom lickers that are there now. bring in people from which, dominic littlewood, martin lewis and anne robinson from watchdog and so on. to even it all out.

Don't assume that because they present pro-Consumer programs, that they're pro-consumer people - they're 'just' presenters picked for the job. (That's not to say they're not - just don't assume they are).

The cost and efficiency of technology is reducing, not increasing with inflation.

Perhaps some employees from 3 will come and confirm that they've been awarded a 3%+ pay rise this year - no, I doubt very much they have.

Utility bills have increased - but how many offices per 10,000 customers does 3 have. It's not a labour intensive industry and premises are relatively small.

Nah, this has nothing to do with increased costs due to inflation and has everything to do with 3 simply wanting more profit to please shareholders.
  • I'm going to fight this, it's of material detriment to me being charged more for something I had agreed to be a certain price when I signed the contract. I don't accept their change in prices so they can either let me continue to pay my previous tariff or they can terminate my contract.
In case you were wondering, my username is in reference to Transformers the Movie.
  • This must be an absolute con.
3 can't be affected by the whole inflation rate.
Also I've just been on '3shop' and found they are offering contracts with more
features than I have for less monthly fee.
    Work that out!!
