If your a top quality tradesman you are usually very busy so can pick and chose your work and are generally friendly with a lot of other good tradesman.
If he gets the idea that you are going to be awkward or a bad payer then he will not want whatever job you have.
The more unreasonable the customer the worse the tradesman they get.0 -

Sorry have to disagree you have that totaly wrong the customer has made the choice of tradesman, he hasn't a clue what sort of payer etc they will be and the customer hasn't a clue about the tradesman at that stage.
I can rearrange those few words for you to make a little more sense;
The worse a tradesman they get the more unreasonable the customer.
It is difficult because people can be difficult and thats on both sides of the issue. Like all factions in life the 1 bad apple taints the lot and no one can afford to pick a builder/lecky,plasterer etc out of a hat. That was the original issue in the topic and I'm not suprised that a quality tradesman gets upset by the issues raised on cowbuy builders etc, but it is a real issue and it won't go away while the type of operater featured in such shows can set up and operate his buisness on dodgy foundations and sub standard workmanship.
:AI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -

So you don't think tradesmen talk to each other? Trust me, if there is even a hint that your an awkward customer or, even worse, a bad payer, you will never see a good tradesman.0 -

My neighbour is an electrician, and works alongside various trades. He'd heard of an electrician I used, as they are just down the road, but he does not talk with them. He'd never heard of the other trades I used, including a builder less than a mile away. Other builders I used had never heard of each other. So the idea that trades will avoid you if you are bad to one trade is just not true, though obviously a mate of one you treated poorly may avoid you.
But ... and this is a large but- if you have an argument with someone on one of these trades sites, chances are you will be blacklisted by forum members as they have private forums, for members to exchange information. It would not surprise me if they had a name and shame sub-forum. As to whether or not this could constitute libel is another issue. But since they are private, you are not likely to find out if you have been unjustly maligned.
Have I been blacklisted by CheckATrade members? Quite probably, given that the cowboys I used maintain that I am an unreasonable customer, who treated them badly.Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0 -

Not sure I accept that, for reasons in earlier posts. Your original post also sounds a bit like mummy and daddy telling darling child to be good because Santa Claus only visits good children.
In practice of course it is a two way exchange.Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0
