Golden odour...who names these things?
Eit...re tracking, it seems to me the best litters gor smell, popularity and cost track. It is the pay off. I am dreaming of having a cat flap soon, with a litter tray just outside they can nip and use......
I agree... OKO is a good value litter and masks smells very well. But there is some tracking, though personally I've never come across a litter that doesn't track. When I used to buy fine clay-based ones (before the arrival of the naughty cats), even those tracked, though I never tried Golden Grey.0 -

I have never seen golden grey, presumaly same makets as golden odour? Which is also grey, lol.
The golden tracks, and over a longish distance. The fine ones seem less well caught by mats etc. Bu it is the best smell trappe we have used and lasts ages and ages.0 -

Looks very similar in packaging design to golden grey... so I would say Golden Odour is by the same makers. It's still a clay-based litter, though, so a no-no for this feline household I'm afraid0 -
So... my little non-scientific experiment has been going for 3 - 4 days now, here are my latest findings..
It has been a good time for me to try this as I often work from home, but this week this has not been possible, so all five cats have been indoors for most of the day (except for yesterday when DH had a day off).
The cats are using the World's Best more than they were, though there is still a little more usage of the OKO.
Still definitely prefer the ease of emptying WB over OKO.
Tracking? Both about the same now the cats are using both more equally...
Odour control is great for both, though personally I don't particularly like the smell of the WB (excluding waste) - it smells to me like stale sponge cake, and I'm not a fan of sponge. Not a biggie, but the OKO has a much fresher smell in my opinion.
Price-wise, OKO is cheaper... I'm not convinced that there is enough of an advantage to justify spending more on WB at the moment.
But I shall test for durability, too. OKO can get a bit dusty in between full litter tray emptying, so I'll reserve judgement for now until I see how WB performs once it has been down for a few days0 -
I've made my mind up and have chosen a definite winner of my not-very-scientific-experiment!
Odour control: Both equally as good
Tracking: Both track, but reduced a lot by having trays at the entrance/exit - equal.
Cat preference: after the first day, both used roughly the same, no clear cat favourite.
Removal of waste: World's Best a definite winner over OKO. OKO isn't difficult to scoop, but WB is much finer, so much easier.
Smell of clean litter: OKO wins here in my view, has a much fresher smell, WB smells a bit weird to me
Dust: OKO can get a little dusty after a few days' use, WB doesn't so wins this category easily.
Durability: Clear winner here is OKO - I changed the litter last Monday and will not need to do a full change of the OKO until next Sunday/Monday. WB tray is starting to look like it will need a full change within the next couple of days.
Price: You can get WB for £28 per 15kg at cat shows (£38 on Zooplus). Never asked how much OKO is at cat shows, but 40L costs £27 on Z+. 40L OKO will last much longer than 15kg WB.
WINNER: The clear winner is..... drumroll..... OKO! WB has some great points, and if I had only one or two cats I might have chosen differently. But for durability and cost-efficiency, the OKO came out on top0 -
Well thanks for doing the experiment and posting your thoughts up on here for us!0
