Cat Litter Trial: OKO vs World's Best

I have decided to conduct a little experiment (entirely unscientific, but then I'm not a scientist
)
I bought a 3kg bag of World's Best cat litter at the cat show yesterday because, although I like OKO, I'm not averse to trying new things to see if they are better.
So, today I've emptied, cleaned and disinfected the trays downstairs. They are two identical trays next to each other. They have identical litter mats at the entrance/exit. So all is identical except one is filled with World's best and one is filled with OKO (to the same level).
I want to test which out of the two the cats seem to prefer; which is best for masking odours; which is best for tracking; and which is best for me to empty and remove the waste.
I will report on my findings over the next few days. But the trays have been in situ for about an hour now. So far the three moggies have completely ignored both trays. Spot and Lula the bengals were outside when I did all this - Spot came in first and immediately knew something was different and went and played with the new litter.
Lula then came in a while later and did exactly the same, though for longer. She always did have a thing about playing with fine-grained litter for some reason!
So watch this space if you're interested in finding out more!

Will be very interested to see what the outcome is.
Going to ask a question from those with more than 1 cat in the household......
My 2 always shared a tray (although there were sometimes "discussions" with one sitting on the top and swiping when the other was going in & out;)) - as some of you know, I had to have them separated for a while which meant 2 trays.
When they were put back together, I put the 2nd tray in their room, with the intention of getting rid of it in a few days .... however, I've noticed that they seem to use one for "no 1s" and the other for "no 2s".
I'm also using less litter ...... don't know if it's down to having 2 less soiled trays each day, rather than 1 that nearly needs a total change.
Any thoughts?Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Can't really answer that one, sorry, rising! The two trays I've mentioned are our main two, though now the weather is better, the trays are being used less and less as they're going outside more. But when they do use the trays, there is a mixture of no 1s and no 2s in both, at least in our cat household anyway.0

My thoughts are more inclined to ask if anybody else has a cat that likes to use a fresh litter tray for dustbathing in. And thereby tipping half of it onto the floor (before kicking out the next 25%).
And if you don't, do you want one?I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -

No wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy one is enough.... :P

FridayCat - will be difficult to compare unless you FORCE them to use the 2 litter boxes in the same way - one pee here and one there etc etc which is impossible.
They will surely prefer one and use that on more and that particular you will have to change more so it will last shorter.
If you testing, test per bag/price but use both litter trays with the same litter and then see how long each one lasts....
I am intersted in tracking as Oko drives me up the wall.....
And I am interested in you testing:
As this one is my absolute fav (for the cats of course before anyone's imagination runs wild :P)

I got 2 trays for my 4..... massive though.... and yes they seem to pee in one and poo in the other0 -
i think a mixture of cats best oko plus and cats best nature gold is the best combination i've found.
nature gold doesnt track nearly as much as oko plus, and it wood pellet shaped, but clumps.

I'm going to keep an eye on this thread! ATM I'm using Cat's Best OKO Plus but, my God, does it track! It's more expensive to shell out than the cheapy Mr T stuff but it really lasts for ages.
I remember I used to use the clumpy clay stuff and used to hoover up the overflow. Until I got an H2O hoover which had a water tank....... well, you can imagine the end result. Disaster.
Can I ask you all how you dispose of your cat's um, littery lumps? I bag mine up in cheap nappy sacks and drop them in the outside bin but I've read that they can go directly down the loo. Not sure I'd be happy doing that. Any advice?0 -

You should not flush their poo down the loo - there was a recent thread about this, and that was the general consensus. I've always done the same as you, use nappy bags and put them in the wheelie bin, though I buy the very slightly more expensive degradable ones from Mr T as I would feel guilty about all the plastic bags I was chucking away otherwise0 -

Another nappy sack user here ..... 35p for 300 from Mr A;)Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

So my experiment has been running for just over a day.
I emptied both trays before I left the house at 6:30 am and returned at around 6:15 pm. The OKO plus had one poo, and 3 wees, the World's best had one wee. (I hope you're not eating your tea!!) So from the cat's perspective, the OKO seems to be the early favourite.
From a cleaning of the waste perspective, I definitely prefer World's Best - the grains are much finer and it is far easier to do the scoop, shake off the excess and put the waste in the nappy sack.
They both seem to be equally as good at masking odours (though the OKO had to work a little harder at this perhaps...)
From a tracking perspective? They do both track. A lot of the bits get caught up in the trays that I have at the entrance/exit, and I then just pop these bits back in the actual litter tray. It's difficult to say which one is better... I was going to say World's Best because there were less bits on the floor (not that there was a lot), but then the OKO was used a lot more than the WB, so that would have been an unfair conclusion!
So still a few more days I think to go until I make my mind up0 -

The degradable ones I get are from Mr T and are around 30p for 75, so a little more expensive, but less of a guilt-factor0
