Just did the comparison exercise for my son and carefully went through every single site listed in the Car Insurance section:

5 year old Mini Cooper S Works, 5 years NCB, 27 years old, RG9 post code, Systems Analyst, Fully Comp, NCB Protection, total of £250 excess, park on public road, <5000 miles pa, social & commute, legal cover, replacement car, key cover, pers accident cover. Cheapest was GoCompare with 1st Central (poor service reputation!) at £610 single payment, but excluding replacement car, key cover and pers accident cover.

Then I 'phoned Adrian Flux on the off chance. 10 minutes later had a quote for £530 with Equity Red Star (Llloyds Syndicate) covering everything!

    Comparison sites don't always work.

Do old cars cost more to insure? I drive a 2003 fiat punto, paid £750 this year, tried all the comparison websites and couldn't get it any cheaper. It has to be said, I don't live in a great area....

But friends of mine with similar circumstances but newer cars, are coming in cheaper at around £500. Is this due to the age of my car or am I doing soemthing wrong on the comparison websites?
