What car? Where do you park - on the road, driveway, garage? Dodgy area? Convictions and / or accidents? Too many variables to determine if that is a good price or not.

I'm Female, 36 years, Full NCB (been driving for 17 years with no accidents), Jumped a red light 4 years ago, park on the drive, only do 6000 miles per year, nice area, 2001 VW Polo 1.4TDi. I pay just under £300 including protected no claims, legal assistance etc.

DH, age 38, Full NCB, pays a little over £400 and that includes business miles, 16,000 miles per year for his 2008 Toyota (can't remember the type, but it is a huge estate) 2.0TD.

I don't think there are any rules to it anymore. I used to think rural would be cheaper than town, but not according to our quote. And I don't know how it's this price either, compared to what others like yourself get charged. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3971525

Manchester = high risk area. Also u only have 2 years NCD & 3pts results in your higher quote. Have a look at a comparison website just to get a feel if it's a competitive quote.

female, early 40's, 8 years NCD, no claims or convictions
    parked on driveway
protected NCD, spouse included, business cover, 8,000 miles
No breakdown, legal cover or accident insurance
    Insurance group 16

A bit higher for husband to insure - around £260, but will probably do that to keep his NCD alive.

That would have been my theory, but
Young people driving in big towns are less likely to have expensive high speed accidents than young people driving in more rural locations. You get more claims in towns but these are for bumper bashes which generally cost peanuts to put right, wallop someone at 60mph and you start getting into telephone number claim payments.

I would guess you're putting the occupation as company director, and the business is whatever you're in? That doesn't help prices I'm afraid. If you're a limited comany, is the car registered in your name, or the company name? Whoever is on the v5 needs to get the quotes, if it's the company, you can't use personal ncd.

Are you a company director and have a separate self employed job or just a company director? Legally, as a company director you are an employee of the company and not self employed (if you are just the later).
