Dressing the Kids for a Family Wedding

Do you have any outlet stores close by you could have a look in? Eg Next.
Or have you got any tesco clubcard vouchers? They are currently doing their summer clubcard exchange. I *think* clothes were on it.0 -
Hi OP,
When my ex remarried, he put our sons (then 13 and 9) in school trousers, school shoes and white school shirts. No waistcoats, just a tie for the ceremony and then it came off for the party. The boys were up the front with their dad as his "best men" so they were pretty central, and they looked fine and felt quite comfortable. I really wouldn't be buying anything special for a wedding unless it was a shirt my son was really keen to have (my younger son now has a black shirt with bright blue vertical stripes which he loves and wears for smart occasions).
Don't worry about this clothes thing too much - as long as the boys look fairly clean and their shoes are polished, all will be well!

Primark for shirts and trousers, charity shop for ties.
Clean their trainers up by giving them a good scrub or throw in the washing machine.
Most folk with kids understand how difficult it is to get boys the age of yours into posh togs.
I'm not that way reclined
Jewelry? Seriously? Sheldon you are the most shallow, self-centered person I have ever met. Do you really think that another transparently-manipu... OH, IT'S A TIARA! A tiara; I have a tiara! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me!0 -
you can get some nice stuff from charity shopsReplies to posts are always welcome, If I have made a mistake in the post, I am human, tell me nicely and it will be corrected. If your reply cannot be nice, has an underlying issue, or you believe that you are God, please post in another forum. Thank you0

my son is older he is 16, but I recently bought him a lovely shirt in Primark for about £6 and a tie with self coloured diamantes on for £5, they look really nice. I bought a pair of trousers from there as well about £6 and he is now wearing them for school.
I would look at the mens clothing as well as the boys as they sometimes have xs and small in stock, and to be honest some of the shirts are very slim fitting so would definitely fit your oldest son0 -
You can play fairly fast and loose and no one will mind, as just getting you all there in one piece (and trying to keep them together and fairly clean) is a task in itself!faerie~spangles wrote: »Clean their trainers up by giving them a good scrub or throw in the washing machine.

The one thing I do hate at things like weddings etc are kids in trainers - it always smacks of a lack of effort to me - even if you put them in sandal type shoes or boat type shoes, if you don't want to use school shoes it still gives the impression of trying.

If they arent part of the wedding party I would have thought smart jeans and a shirt would have been acceptable ?
I picked up some lovely formal smart shirts and jeans for both mine for a christening and it came to less than £20, and they can wear the jeans for any occasion and the shirts come out for school discos with a t-shirt underneath to make it more casual !Bow Ties ARE cool "Just because you are offended, doesnt mean you are right" Ricky Gervais

Thanks for the ideas, some great suggestions there. I never seem to find anything half decent in the charity shops around us but I will have a look. Primark is out because the nearest one is about 35 miles away!
I cant decide whether to get my youngest son some new school shoes now, he will need them in September anyway. Not sure if this is a bit risky though as his feet might grow.
The cheapest option is going to be school trousers and a shirt with some cheap black shoes. Stupidily I hadnt thought about asking friends if they have got anything my kids could borrow so will try that too.
I like the idea of Chinos and a more casual shirt and this would probably get worn again but think this might be more expensive. Then again I could buy cheap canvas pumps so it would sort the footwear issue.
Oh and I do have some clubcard vouchers, again I hadnt thought of this so thank you.
You have all given me some new ideas which I desperately needed and I feel less stressed about it now.0 -
What about a short sleeved checked shirt, chino shorts and some converse style pumps, all from Primark or even one of the supermarkets.
I'm sure you'd be able to do all that for well under £30, (£15 a child), or is that still too much?Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
Get yourself to primark, shirts and ties are trendy at the moment. I've just for my son a red check shirt and black skinny tie for £6, wore it with a pair of chinos £7 and a pair of black pumps £2... If in the summer they also had chino shorts for about a fiver and white pumps. My son is 12yrs old and looked ace at the 2 do's we've been to recently. Even my 16yr old daughter approved of it lol... He looked like a mini 1 direction lol x0
