Dressing the Kids for a Family Wedding

Hi
Hoping someone can help. We have been invited to a family wedding in a few weeks time and my kids (11 and 13) have nothing suitable to wear. Money is tight and I just really dont want to spend lots of money on clothes they will never wear again. Equally I want them to look smart and presentable at the wedding!
I was hoping I would be able to kit them out on ebay but there arent many smart shirts and trousers around and prices arent cheap. I am also worried about getting the sizing right. I will keep looking but I may have to buy new so I really need some suggestions.
They dont even have smart school trousers or school shoes
. DS2 has black trainers but they arent really smart enough for a wedding.
Ideas needed please!

Would you not be buying new school stuff (trousers and shoes) anyway in the Summer hols? , so maybe you could buy it a bit earlier than usual , school trousers/shoes and a nice shirt would be fine..#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

Have you got a Primark or Matalan nearby? They usually have some really good bargains!0

I had a few kids at my wedding and I didnt expect them to be in suit type outfits. The girls had summer dresses on, and to be honest I cant even remember what the boy had on now! - I just looked at my pics on the computer and he had cargo shorts on and a checked shirt - admittedly I did get married in a hot country and I asked people not to wear suits if they didnt want to as I didnt want them to be uncomfortable, but still even if it was the summer here I wouldnt expect kids to look like they were going for a day at the office

Do they have any sort of smart/casual shirt - as in not a mans looking mini shirt but just something smarter looking that a t-shirt?
At least its the summer which makes it a bit easier.
Or their school trousers plus some kind of shirt borrowed from one of their friends?0 -
I had the same problem when we went to my nephews Christening. DS was 12 then so I bought him a new pair of school trousers and a shirt in Primark that was meant to be £8 but went through the till at £3. He decided he wanted to borrow Dads tie and shoes were school shoes.
Could you buy them new school shoes (so wont only be worn once), school trousers which arent expensive and a shirt with or without a tie?“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0 -
I had the same problem with my son when he was 15. He only had skater clothes, nothing 'posh' to wear at all. So I put a notice on our local freecycle for a suit. A really nice guy emailed me back offering to loan us one for the wedding, how nice was that! We borrowed the suit, then returned it with a bottle of wine to say thanks.0

Asda have some lovely childrens summer dresses. A little waist coat, school shirt and pair of school trousers would be suitable for the boys I should think!0

Asda direct has a 2 pack of short sleeved white shirts for £3 and school trousers for £3 or smart shorts for £2.50, shoes will cost about £10. You could buy a couple of ties in a charity shop, if you are lucky you may also get a waistcoat, with the change in the weather you should manage without jackets. For yourself everything for £5 has dresses for £5.0

Have they got close family friends they could borrow an outfit from?
I went to a wedding recently and could not find anything to buy - weather didn't help as it couldn't decide if it was going to be sunny or freezing. I even was preparing to buy dress to alter to a skirt if the fabric had been right. In the end I made a mad dash to my friend's, wore something in a colour I would never have bought and looked great.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
I'd get them some chino's from Next and a nice smart casual shirt. Converse look-a-like shoes in a neutral colour are reasonably cheap in places like Primark. I'm sure they'd wear the ensemble loads of times for trips to the cinema, going to town with mates etc.
