Hypno's kick up the backside debt diary....

Hello everyone!
There are about 30 students over for the whole year, split throughout schools in the county, so usually between 2 and 4 per school.
They tend to be very independent so make friends quickly, meet up with the other visiting students to go out for drinks etc, but they also spend a lot of time studying - they are pretty conscientious as far as school work goes, so generally they get the balance right.
The children love it - and 2 of the previous 3 have been really good with the family - the last one spent all his time in his room and I think we got three words out of him all year!!
Seaxwyn, I hope you had a good week away - my week has been the usual roller coaster of a long term dfw-er!! Very emotional at the beginning of the week, more motivated by the end of the week. The children skied all week and both won brand new ski poles, saving me a bit of money because they both needed new poles! My debt total has reduced very very slightly - I wanted it to be below the next £1000 mark so pinched the council tax money to make an overpayment - I now have until the 25th to replace it, so have to get ebaying and matched betting!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Hi P, I hope you have a good day!
This morning, I have made £30 on a casino bagging thing, and 22p on a bingo bagging thing - plus another £30 cashback hopefully, so I have earnt an ok amount! Also have managed to clean the bathrooms and get the student's room ready, plus found a suitable present for my friend's DS, so all in all a good morning's work!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Sounds like a productive morning hun! I have a whole day stretched ahead of me and I really must do some Quidco'ing. Did you do Lovefilm via Quidco? Just wondering how easy it will be to cancel without losing cashback xMFW

Wow Hypno, that's an impressive morning's work!
I think I'll just hide in shame as I've only just got dressed (I did work yesterday though, so I'm making the most of my one lazy day this week). Hope all goes well with the student.
Oh and P, have a lovely day too!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Hypno can I ask how you rate Topcashback? I have signed up to it for SS's offer, but apart from that not delved into it too much yet xMFW

I have only been using topcashback for a few weeks, and have yet to have anything paid to me, although things have been marked as "confirmed" so I am still a relative newbie! There is a thread on the freebies board for topcashback which seems to give it good ratings, so have a peek over there and see what they say! Looks ok to me though!
The student has arrived, and is perhaps a little overwhelmed, and tired! She has already seen her head of year from the school who says that she cannot do all the subjects she listed as preferences, so they have put her down for English Literature - for a Norwegian student I am not sure that this is really the right subject!! Hopefully things will sort themselves out when she actually goes to school on Wednesday.
We had to go to woolies to get some last minutes school essentials for her - paper, folders etc, so I spent another £20 but at least I know she will have everything she needs, plus I bought an adapter so she can use her laptop etc here - just as well I made that money this morning!! At least it is a one off cost, and I cannot begrudge her that sort of thing really.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. Hi Hypno, thanks for the help, I'll pop over to that thread shortly. Ouch, English Lit is hard enough even when you speak the language fluently from my experience! I was thinking, are you aiming to have yours and hubby's EGG cards gone by Xmas? How fabby would that be! xMFW
