I went and got out my big winter cardigan. I resisted putting the heating on though :D

Stop shaving your legs etc too - helps too keep you warm in the winter months, but no good for your sex life :o

sounds like you've had a busy day!

I get my hair cut at the local college here - £7.25 for a wash, cut and blow dry, open 2 evenings a week and free parking. I go once a term and it's great!

I'm here in tights and jumper using OH's laptop for extra warmth - this weather is ridiculous - there was an american lady in tescos earlier getting the checkout lady to scan the label on the scarf she was wearing - said she was so cold she'd had to put it on to go round the shop and asked if it normally this cold in August

Morning all, another fairly busy but hopefully productive day dawns. I have a good number of clients today, and hope to get coffee with Pania this afternoon too.

It is half price listing day on ebay and I have a couple of things to put on there, so hopefully I will do that next. In fact, I WILL do that next (next of course being AFTER another coffee!).

I am also starting to read through the spreadbetting offers on the gambling thread - as a stockbroker, I do know the technicalities, but for some reason I have been holding back.......starting to dip my toe back in the water, simply to take advantage of the offers around in the hope that the amounts will increase in the same way as the matched betting ones are, so that I can get more money chucked at that debt asap.

I have a couple of small matched bets to do as well today - won't be much, but will all help. The children will be watching a free trial lovefilm DVD so that will keep them out of mischief on this damp dark day! Next week they are skiing all week, so they need to conserve their energy a bit in preparation (even though they are doing karate 4 times this week and DS has 2 days basketball!).

Possibly bad news is that our elderly cat has not been seen for 3 days now. She has on occasion in the past gone walkabout for a couple of days but each year that goes by we worry more about her. She is about 13 years old so getting on a bit. Problem is that DD particularly is very attached to the cat and I am dreading what will eventually be the inevitable.

Hope everyone has a good day x

    Hi hypno
I've missed mse and your diary! Been overwhelmed with to-dos the last few days, and my mse-ness has been confined to trying to get the v site to let me log on and pay money in to take advantage of ss's offer, and trying to find a man and van to bring me the freecycle fridge I found. No success on either as yet, can't believe how *difficult* things are sometimes....

Glad things are going well with you, but sorry to hear about the missing little mog. Mine were both housecats, really, altho I had an open all hours catflap, eventually I had to shut the catflap and resign myself to cat litter. I hope she comes back soon.

  • So sorry to hear of your missing cat, Hypno. She might turn up any minute so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you all.

One of our cats went walkabout once(totally out of character) and after a week I'd resigned myself to the worst. I'd phoned every Vet within miles in case someone had taken in an injured cat, put 'Missing' posters up everywhere, you name it I'd done it! And then totally unexpectedly after about 2 weeks he just came home:j . I've no idea where he'd been but he was totally exhausted. After a perfunctory lick of my hand and a sniff at the food I hastily gave him he just fell asleep on the kitchen floor at the side of his dish. And he slept for hours. Luckily, when he woke he was back to his usual self but he wouldn't leave my side for a few days. We always thought that he'd sneaked into an open car/van for a sleep and been unwittingly taken off somewhere faraway. We imagined him making his way home across miles and miles of countryside and that's why he was so tired when he got here. We'll never know though but boy, were we happy to see him!

    Have a good day
