That sounds like a brilliant holiday Hypno - it's lovely to go away but sometimes it's equally nice just to have time to be at home and do stuff that you don't usually get time to. Enjoy your break x

Thank you - I think we are looking forward to it more than we expected! I am certainly glad we are not spending the money we would have done if we had gone away. I think the mess up in dates was a blessing in disguise. Some things are meant to be!

That's exactly the kind of holiday we're having this year Hypno.

In previous years, I've usually driven around 1000 miles in our 2 week summer holiday.

This year, I've probably driven no more than 20 so far - the car had a fault until yesterday.

It's now repaired, but I think we've (I've !!!!!) had such a relaxing time that we're going to do the same next week.

We have got one day out planned next week, but the kids have asked if we can go on the train instead of driving, more of an adventure. They love picnics, so it should work out OK.

    Enjoy it Hypno hun

Excellent! I hope next week is just as good. Just goes to show that what we now consider to be really important, is not the same as pre-lbm! I have had years where I would have hated to have had a week at home!!

We've never done proper holidays anyway Hypno, too many pets :o

We tended to have days out every day, a different place each day. Not only did it cost a fortune in petrol and admission costs, but I was absolutely shattered at the end of the fortnight because of all the driving.

Yesterday, when we dropped the car off at the garage for repair, I gave the kids a choice.

We could either go home on the bus, with a short walk, or got the train (only one stop) and walk quite a long way, They chose the train - believe it or not, they had never been on a proper train before, only the steam ones in Wales.

Total cost for the 4 of us - £2.80, and some aching muscles from the walking. The kids enjoyed it so much, they're still going on about it.

That's why we're doing the day trip by train next week. It really wouldnt matter where the train went, they would enjoy it anyway :D

I was bought up on holidays abroad and it was fab i have to say, but also just enjoy time at home, chilling out, not worrying about getting up before 10 if you don't want to, miss the sun occasionally but yes being a DFW certainly realigns you priorities about what is important. Glad you're all having such a good fun dfw time, don't worry about the not knowing what to post, get like that sometimes so rest assured it isn't the age!! hugs xx

Thanks P. I was waiting up for my bets to settle, so I could see where everything is, but things are a bit slow in settling tonight, so I will give up now, go to bed and start again tomorrow!

    Sleep well all x
