CAB think it's just a threat . I admitted I owed her £5000 and repaid without evidence as was cash so he advised to mention in the letter I had X with me as a witness and how she leant it straight to my brother. He said deduct everything off she owes me listing it then admitting to the balance snd making a monthly payment offer. He said to add if it's denied and she continues to sue me to say I will counter sue her for the items she owes me Inc the TV from my catalogue.
Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.

My dad seems to think it is a scare tactic her solicitor is using to try to scare me into paying the money.

It could be that her solicitor has advised her that she has no chance, but is prepared to send a single letter and has advised her that further action would be foolish.

jeez. why do people do this?????? please ignore everything. respond to nothing!!!! she cannot prove a thing. there is NO paper trail back to you.

and think seriously about reporting her to the authorities for the benefit fraud. this isnt just a little white lie. this is quite big!!! and because of hiding a significant amount from the benefits people, is how you have become embroiled in all this. you can report without giving any names. you can just call a certain phone number.

Emweaver, you have repaid the £5k. Now first thing tomorrow do the decent thing and report for benefit fraud. Believe me, if you don't and the Benefits Agencies ever investigate her and find any link, you will be investigated as well.
By talking to the Benefit Fraud Team at least they are then aware that you had no idea it was fraud to start with.
