    OP, I'm slightly confused.

As you wondering if your periods have become lighter because you think you may be several months pregnant? But have continually been getting negative tests?

I'm just trying to understand exactly what it is you are asking :)

    Yep, that is exactly it...
at how many weeks was this though ? Its incredibly rare to get a false negative - test too early/not with FMU/read the test incorrectly

I dont mean to be negative but i get the impression this is just the sort of false hope the OP is searching for :(

I have heard that you can get false negatives the later into the pregnancy you go as the hormone levels go too high...although I would love to be pregnant, and I understand your bit about false hope, I am realistic too...well a wee bit anyway....lol
    ;)I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY;)

You shouldn't be leaving a tampon in all day, even if your loss is relatively light.

Ok, well, from what you have said, it really doesn't sound like you are pregnant. And tests will always be + during a pregnancy, I'm not sure when hormone levels could get too high for HCG to be detectable!

I was upto 8 weeks pregnant. As in I was 8 weeks when the Dr confirmed the pregnany and I'd have done the last of 5 tests shortly before going to him (to see if I could cancel the appt). The reason I remember when is the Drs receptionist called to tell me the blood test had confirmed I was pregnant it was the same day my eldest child came out of nappies during the day. it stuck in mind, getting one out of nappies on the same day I discovered I'd have one going into nappies. I would have tried the 1st test of 5 about a week after my period was late (spot on 28 days back then). This was my 3rd pregnancy. My 1st with a baby I lost had also given me 3 negative readings. I packed in my job and moved counties to be with Mr S on the strength of them . Only to discover on the 4th test I was indeed pregnant. My 2nd pregnancy with my eldest child I was on holiday in America and I showed I was pregnant straight away with a test I bought there. Then 3 years later, 5 tests tell me I'm not. I knew my signs though, sore boobs, craving for potatoes so that's when I went to my GP. The sticks back then were 2 lines 1 to say the test was working the other if it appeared to say the test was positive. Only 1 line ever appeared so it wasn't me reading a test wrong. I realise it's rare but it's not impossible. That's why I told the OP to go to her GP then she knows either way.

    Go to a doctor!

Hi, just wanted to say I also think it's really important that you go to your GP soon, especially with some of the symptoms you're experiencing. Explain your symptoms to the doctor and have some tests, you could always suggest pregnancy as your theory as a possible cause like others have said.

But presumably she hasn't been continually taking pregnancy tests!
