i was contacted by the today (tel: 01792 482 4444) After asking a number of questions they said I had a good case for a claim which surprised me because to my knowledge I have never taken out a PPI. and have paid off my mortgage in 2004 He said Barclays included PPI in your mortgaqe interest without telling you. I did not think I would be entitled to PPI since I have not had a mortgage since 2004 but He sounded believable he then passed me to senior advisor. I was asked questions like what is my credit limit on my card. he said he needed this informaiton to check that I am who I say I am. He wanted the customer service tel no. on back of card.
As soon as she said (Sarah Davies - Senior Advisor) I would need to pay a small amount with my credit I became very suspicious. I refused to give details of my card.
Can this website be closed down since they are clearly scam artist?0 -
I was called by lifestyle today and unfortunately I have given them my credit card details. I was a bit sceptical but they assured me the were a proper company and gave me all their contact details. They are sending me contract in the post and say £359 will be put on my credit card and I will get this back if I have no claim.
I feel foolish now after looking online I tried calling them back but it was after 5.30 so only got voicemail, I left them message saying I did not wish to pursue a claim and I do not give my permission for them to take money from my card. Can they still take the money even though I've signed nothing and verbally said no? I spoke to my credit card company but they said they could not stop the transaction. The money has not been taken yet. What shall I do? Am I going to lose this money or has anyone had a successful claim with lifestyle?0 -
I have had the same happen to me this week & stupidly fell for it too... They have taken money 3 times from my credit card which I have now had to cancel. I've opened a dispute with my cc company & have read that I have a 14 day cooling off period in which to cancel & get a refund.. I will be fighting this all the way!!
This company should not be allowed to do this to people...0 -
I have just found the rules to which these companies must abide which I'll now be using as ammo in my seemingly never-ending mission to reclaim my money from these scoundrels. Suggest everyone has a read, from my memory Lifestyle broke a number of these rules during the initial calls. They're available on the MoJ site (search for PPI factsheet), I'd copy the link but as a new member to the site I'm not allowed...0

Can I jump on the bandwagon please? This is my first post but felt I had to share my experience with these jokers!
I first got a call from these people on 25th May from a Swansea phone number. I'd just been talking to a friend who had had a successful ppi claim so the timing was spot on. They asked loads of questions and I was passed to a total of 3 people. I too gave over CC details (they kindly held the line as I activated my card!)
My friend was downstairs and I told her my call was for ppi and that I'd had to pay £719 in total. The look on her face said it all. I felt a complete fool.
I'd told the guy on the phone I wasn't comfortable with giving my cc details to a stranger. It he'd given me the MOJ speel and told me to check their website out. I did and this forum came up. I was furious with myself.
I rang back on the number theyd rang from the next day when I was on my own and the phone was answered as if they were phoning me addressing me by my first name. When I said I'd rung them he got very flustered. After reading on MSE how difficult it was to get hold of anyone there I thought I'd try the assertive approach! I told the guy on the phone that I wanted to speak to the duty manager and I wasnt going to be fobbed off or put on hold that he'd better get someone immediately. I was put through to the 3rd person I'd originally spoken to. When I told him I wanted to cancel he tried to talk me round and soon he realised I wasn't having an inch of it. He said he wasn't authorised to do refunds but would get someone to call me back. I told him they had 30 minutes and I'd be phoning back. 20 minutes later he called back trying to talk me round again. When he realised I wasn't going to be a soft touch he became really rude and nasty telling me I was pathetic and stupid for not wanting to go ahead with the claim. My blood was boiling but I kept calm and stuck to my guns. I told him what I'd read on MSE and he said the posters were disgruntled members of staff blah blah blah. He said he'd have to speak to his superior again so I told him he had ten minutes. He rang saying my money would be refunded in 48 hours. It wasn't.
I went on holiday for a week and checked my cc on my return. Still nothing. I did however have a letter confirming cancellation and a refund slip to return. I signed it using my pre married signature as I was worried about the having mine and wrote on the slip that I had been told that I would have a refund within 48 hours of our last phonecall and I would keep an eye on my cc for a refund. The refund slip stated 30 working days from receipt for a refund which I marked on my calendar. I checked cc today and the money was refunded. I am so releived but can't believe I fell for it!
I realise how lucky I am to get my money back at all, I thought I was in for a loosing battle.
If you're still chasing them for your money be strong and good luck!0 -
Other day, saw an email to my wife from Lifestyle Money and thought little of it, another spam I thought. Today, she had a letter, wouldn't show me, I ripped it out of her hands and found it was Lifestyle Money again, then she confessed they'd cold called her and she'd agreed for them to try to get (probably non existent) PPI back from her bank. I called the company, left a message on an asnwering machine telling them they are a scam as reported in the media, television etc. I then sent an email to them explaining same.
Then after I'd done this. my wife then confessed that she'd actually gave them £359 as a fee using her debit card! I got her to phone her bank but as a debit card, can't get it back exept as a refund from this company they said. I want her to cancel her card, hope she takes my advice.
I can't believe she's been so stupid. She said she wanted to take me on a nice holiday with the money Lifestyle said she'd get! But instead, she's just handed money over like a fool!0 -
Well technically... It appears on my credit card statement as 'fraud adjustment'As soon as I'd realised I'd been fleeced, just after the pone call from lifestyle money, I called my credit card company, MBNA, and told them this company had phoned me up and asked for card details for ID purposes, then took £359 without permission.
They were on the case straight away and I was credited the money 2 weeks later.
I did have to sign and return a form saying it was a fraudulent payment though.
I do remember trying to get in touch with lifestyle money. The guy who gave me his name was unheard of according to the rest of the staff team!
I wouldn't bother trying to get a refund through them , just get onto your credit card companies people!!0 -

Following on from the discussion.... I was cold called yesterday by this company claiming that they could get my PPI refunded. After a brief call by a chap....sorry didn't get his name... I was then passed to the Senior Advisor.. Sharon I think.. who would go through the legal stuff with me. All sounded ok until she asked for my debit card details. When I challenged her for the reason she needed these details she told me that how could she proceed with my claim if she did not have the card number. I said, ok, I will start by giving you my previous Mortgage Account number for my previous mortgage. I will look to see if they applied PPI to my mortgage then I would proceed with the claim on my deit/credit cards. She said that they ALWAYS do the credit/debit cards first the the mortgage stuff. I refused to give her my details.... she hung up!!
Today I get a call from the company claiming that they have all my credit agreements now and would I like to proceed with the claim. I thought wow... that's quick. You managed to get all my mortgage, credit/debit cards and car finance agreements in less that 24 hours!! Alarm bells!!!
Oh yes we have all your details and we will waive the £299+vat fee as we are 100% sure we will win this case. Ok I said let's get on with it then. He replied you need to pay us a £19.99+vat fee for us to post out the documents to you to sign and return. How do I pay this then. Oh I would need your credit/debit card details..... OMG do these people never give up. I refused so he asked did I want to proceed with this and I said yes as you seem to have all my credit agreements, however I am not giving you my card details. With that he put the phone down. How can these people be stopped. I run a business and am a "bit savvy" when it comes to cold calls, but what happens to the more vulnerable people... do they just get ripped off and nothing happens?? This particular company did not fool me but could easily trick other people and it needs to stop. Why aren't the MOJ paying them a visit, they claimed to sell insurance, why aren't the FSA paying them a visit. Avoid this company at all costs please save your money and use a more reputable company0
