Cucumbers not growing?

We always grow tomatoes and cucumbers in grow bags in our greenhouse. This year the tomatoes are growing well but the first lot of cucumbers died (4) we bought two more and they are dying to. With the first lot there were 3 in one bag and the other one was in a bag with two tomatoes, the tomatoes were fine. The second lot were in a bag with a new tomato plant which is fine.

Never had this happen before, do you think the cucumbers might not like the compost in the growbag?

I can't remember if we have grown our cucumbers from seed in the past or have bought plants.

It seems strange that the tomatoes are doing really well.

I wondered if anyone has any ideas why this is happening.

Thanks

I've always found cucumbers to be much more sensitive to a cold spell than tomatoes .... it won't be the compost. It may just have been too early/cold for them.

The cucumbers I bought from Homebase died pretty quick and none of the ones I've planted from seed have germinated. The same thing has happened with a friend of mine. No idea why though.

Thank you for the replies. I didn't even think of the on and off cold weather.

Ours is an unheated greenhouse Farway.

We'll try some more when the weather's more settled.

    Thanks once again,

Mine died as well this year ... going to wait for the local allotment sale and hope someone managed to grow a few spare ....

My tomatoes, on the other hand, seem to think it's July or something, flowering away happily. !!!!!!.

I'm on my 3rd lot of cucumbers. The first lot I put in my green house too early and they died and the second lot seem to rot. Humph! So i'm on my third lot and I've managed to get them to germinate really quickly by covering the 3inch pot with a sandwich bag and putting them on a sunny windowsill- they took 3 days!
I put 2 seeds in each pot to make sure I got a successful germination and I've got 2 little seedlings in each pot.
