my boiler is original from 70's and doesnt work properly...this I know but cant afford to replace and pay what I owe to EDF!

If it works ok, finding out its effiency can help you judge how expensive it is to run. My boiler was new around 2004 yet it has a rating of only 74%. It is only in the last few years that these 90%+ boilers have become standard.
