    Good Aftermoon elite,

Just a little reminder that the Whsmith's gift cards, that we got a few months ago expire on Saturday 30th June 2012

Also I did a conditional spend yesterday and I bought 10 wench purple
juice and they did not compare today!

If I'm not mistaken, the gift cards with no printed expiry date on them expire after 24 consecutive months of non-use. If there's a date on it, you'd need to check that as I think they all differ- the one I got the other day expires in August.

I wouldn't, just wait for the price checker to be fixed, and if any expire don't worry about it, more will come.

    Good advice thank you:):):)

    I need help!

been sitting at my laptop ALL DAY trying to balance bank account!

any of you lovely elite have experience of gas meter readings converting to KWh? I think I have found the reason why my gas bills are so high since moving to this house 2 years ago.
I had previously put it down to a carp boiler and we spent most of winter and ALL of this year freezing under blankets and boiling kettle for washing dishes....using electric shower for us! After the first year's bill nearly killed me!

Looking at the meter and the conversion factors to make that reading into KWh .......I THINK (and I may be very wrong about this) that EDF are doing a conversion based on imperial meter when in fact it is a metric meter.......MAJOR difference. The bills dont seem to show the calculation but google was my friend for this!

Looking at reading of 288 which was on just one bill last year......
    Imperial method 288 units = 9057 KWh x3.353p=£303
    Metric method 288 units = 3198 KWh x 3.353p=£107

The amount on my bill is £303 but my meter is METRIC ....despite having queried my bills with EDF for 2 years (based on previous costs for similar houses over many many years) nobody has ever mentioned this calcualtion.........could I be right? anyone know anything about these things before I make a fool of myself and query my bills YET again??:D

edit .....apologies for being OT yes i know there is another forum for this but i trust u lot! sorry for the long post too !

calmspirit , I just checked our last gas bill ...it was 247 units and the bill came to £129 including standing charges etc etc etc ..

calmspirit - roughly speaking electricity costs 3 times gas, so boiling kettles of water for washing up is not the answer. :(

    There is a website here:

    http://www.boilers.org.uk/

use it to find the efficiency rating of your boiler. Then people can help you decide if it is your boiler or your meter that is causing high bills.

yes I do realise it was not the answer thanks silvercar xx :D BUT having turned the boiler off and turned the gas meter off as I just could not afford it ...I was left with no other option and trust me I hate washing up so we were very good at minimising so an extra kettle every so often wasnt too bad.....it was the freezing house and kids that was hard!!!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

my boiler is original from 70's and doesnt work properly...this I know but cant afford to replace and pay what I owe to EDF!:rotfl: I did query the meter readings on many occassion but the readings seemed to tally with my usage therefore I had no case.....but I think now that the readings are being converted wrongly .....might have some money to put towards boiler soon! thanks for your advice though :A

I cant remember what thread I know your name from ??

thanks fourp....that ties in with what I have calculated ....assuming yours is a metric meter and not an old money imperial one!
