Am I right in thinking you have to give new plaster a coat of PVA glue prior to papering or painting .:)Never pay more than you have too0 -

FK I do like your pics when you post. Have you ever heard of the "rule of thirds"? When I got my head round it, it improved the composition of my pics no end.
Also my photography tutor always said, "make sure your whites are white and your blacks are black" when adjusting colour.
I would post more of my pics but they are a bit "arty farty" and contain lots of pylons, not most people's taste.
Please keep posting them, my favorite of your was the black tide creeping up the road a couple of months back.
Never heard any of those statements. Told you I had no technical knowledge lol. I'll look into it though, cheers
I like arty farty and have a couple of telegraph pole ones at sunset...will post em up see what you think.
Got a sneaky feeling the camera wil have to go back though. Theres a mark on the inside of the lens, dead centre. Didnt think it could be seen on images but a few from walesa blurry blob on them. Will take a few more test shots first before I take it back though in case i just had a mark on the lens that day and hadn't noticed.
P.S. other than one or two crops they have not been adjusted at all.0 -

I was told this as it seals the new plaster and stops it from sucking in the paint/paste. Sorry, no good with technical DIY terms
Don't think you use neat pva glue, it needs watered down a bit but no idea of what ratio.0 -

Hello Wirehair, would love to be by the coast today.
If you are painting, there is a paint for new plaster.
Is expensive.
Cheaper to get 10 litre of white emulsion, tip out 1/4 of the pot and fill up with water. Give a good mix and use it as mis-coat.
Don't forget to undercoat the wood work with the emulsion while your at it
The new plaster will suck up the water leaving a thin film of paint on the surface ( also by using white it highlights all of the defects in the new plaster ( work on old plaster to)
Then go over with 2 coats of chosen colour.
If wall papering, usually mix up PVA into the paste, roll wall with that, then roll the paper ( i use a 4 inch brush to go round edges of paper)
Allow time for paper to expand after pasting, few minutes should do it.Back to square one, no apg, no comment.0 -
Had a power cut yesterday evening so I went and sat outside a neighbour asked if I'd like to come to T's with her (I had had a few voddies so couldn't drive) When we got there a lad was bringing out a massive tray with meat in (around 40 packs) this "lady" that had been blocking the whoopsie fridge pounced on him grabbed the tray and tipped it into her trolley
He had the reducing machine and was doing the stuff that was on the shelves, the same woman positioned herself next to the lad and snatched everything out of his hand as he reduced it, the lad moved her trolley out of his way so a few others could get to the cabinet, remember I said I'd had a few vodkas? Wellllllllll in super stealth mode I wriggled pass the "lady" wheeled her trolley to behind the newspaper stand, took out 6 packs for me 6 packs for my neighbour and left the rest of the trolley by the entrance for others to enjoy:D:D
sounds a bit like deja vu - the same happened to me on tuesday.
a woman grabbed everything from the chiller counter -20 odd packs of sandwiches and meat packs from the hands of the guy doing the reduction, and then walked to the vegetable counter and to do the same.
I was holding onto a pack of raspberry when she deliberately elbowed me from the side and the raspberries flew out of my hands and somehow made a mess on the front of her nice white trousers:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: i must say that it matches her red handbag and red sandals very well.0 -
