DFS told it cannot be cancelled once we ordered, i have ordered on last week of April and due for delevery in July

Have you tried speaking to the manager of the store? Spoken to customer services? Offered to pay a restocking fee, etc?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

It will be a made to order sofa (as was mine) and that's why they won't cancel it...I would imagine.
  • i spoke to the store, and also the CS,

the CS told to contact the stores and stores told that they cant cancel the order
  • can anyone help me please , three weeks ago i went into dfs store to order a new sofa , compleated the paperwork for chosen sofa but the order was not put through due to the fact the store never had the colour swatches for the sofa instore , they said they would have them sent to my home address within 7 days and once i had chosen the colour to ring them at store and confirm order and colour and the sofa would take 6 weeks delivery .. now three weeks later and endless phone calls still no swatches , i have rang today and asked them to forget the order as getting very fed up with waiting and have been told i cannot cancel once the paperwork was done , even though no order has yet been given to the factory ... advice please , carnt go to any other company as dont want to end up with 2 sofas , also this was on dfs finance and they have set up direct debit and i dont even have a colour swatch ... thanks angela:)

When u buy from DFS ubuy the sofa when u sign forms.. like if you paid cash.

Only if sofa was truly faulty could you try get money back but they will repair beforehand.

We bought a 1k cheap set of sofas when we first bought home ,they not the best sofas but do and look stylish enough. They said u need to bash pillows every day (lol)

Why not go into store and discuss it in person perhaps with the manager. I think there is some informal recourse because on more than one occasion I've seen sofas to take away from store, the last time I was told it had been ordered but they had changed their mind. I'm sure the original purchaser probably lost alot of money but isn't it worth a try?

One does not simply walk into DFS, and ask to cancel a sofa.

In the first instance you need to start your own thread.. Placing this here is 'hijacking' this one.

The only way you could possibly get out of this order is to claim some sort of breach of contract but an informed mind would need to see the actual paperwork to see if this is an avenue.

Bottom line is you wanted a sofa and have agreed to buy one at an agreed price, the only difference here is DFS are messing you about over your colour choice.

If they do not have your chosen colour then they can not have begun manufacture. If they are messing you about and refuse to supply samples I would consider cancelling the direct debit and wait until they contact you. When they do tell them the reason why you have cancelled it, give them some convenient times when you will available in your home to inspect the samples and make a choice.
The ball is then in their court, they will attend and you will choose a colour or they will not and the contract will become 'frustrated' in that it is unable to be fulfilled by either side.

I wouldn't buy a sofa from DFS, but there we are.......Here's why!

We cancelled a Natuzzi sofa last year, as we managed to get a 6 month old ex-demo for half price. Needless to say, the ones we had ended up as demos...
