You have no right to cancel. There is no issue at all.

    You bought something.

    You paid.

    They will deliver.

    Simple.

The lesson here is never to take action (give notice on your rented property; buy new furniture; etc) before Exchanging Contracts.

Put it into storage? Sell it on and accept a loss? Ask a friend/family if they'll keep it for you?

Your problem has nothing to do with them, or your order I'm afraid. You signed a leagally binding contract and have no right to cancel it.

Perhaps you can appeal to their better nature and see if they will issue a credit note, but if the sofas are made to order, it could be too late.

Ah well that makes all the difference. In that case obviously you can cancel the order.....

I'm afraid you went out and spent money on something before knowing if you would need it or have anywhere to put it.

Now you don't need it or have anywhere to put it.

So sell it? Post a picture here. If it's a nice one, I'll give you £50.

You would have to pay me to accept a DFS sofa.

OP - presumably you checked out the Ts and Cs on the DFS website:

    Cancellation policy

Distance selling regulations only apply to your order if the goods have not been custom made to your specification or if you have not examined the product in one of our showrooms. If the Distance Selling Regulations do apply you can cancel your furniture by notifying us, in writing, before delivery or within 7 working days beginning with the day after the date of delivery.

In which case, look back at post 5.
