Tyre Damage - is it safe to drive

Well to be fair, this site claims to be about "cutting costs without cutting back", not "buying the cheapest crap imaginable". So buying good tyres is not against the ethos of the site.
Paying full whack for them at Kwik-Fit and then getting conned into buying new brake pads and shock absorbers, when you could get the tyres online for cheaper and have them fitted cheaper at a local independent. That would be in the spirit of the site.
Likewise, if after reading the opinions here you still decide to go for cheapies, getting them as cheap as possible is still important0 -
True, Lum, but throwing away a perfectly good tyre (of any quality) because it's got cosmetic damage that just looks nasty (but hasn't affected it's abilities at all) is wasteful0

Fair enough.. when I originally posted that it looked like the cords were showing.
Then others pointed out that they were not, then I went home and looked at the picture using a monitor that isn't a useless piece of crap and indeed... no cords showing.0 -
Yeah, I saw it on my phone first and wasn't sure but can't post from that so got to change m mind before posting
Don't know who the OP uses for MOTs but there's another good lesson here about the benefits of using a trusted, non-chain, MOT centre.
Any good indie would be more than happy to pop out and have a look if you turn up on their forecourt asking for advice on something like this, which will always give a more definitive answer than people trying to judge from photos!0
